I really hate all CAPS and millions of exclamation points. It’s unnecessarily dramatic, condescending, and many times, just rude. Last time I checked, we were all adults, so it would be nice to check the drama at the door.
So we get back from Chicago at 11pm, drive to the autobody place to pick up H’s freshly fixed car at 8 am the next morning, and when he is leaving the parking garage after work THE SAME DAY some jerk hits him from behind, breaking the tail light, denting and cracking the panel, etc!! Then the whack job calls H and tries to get him to agree that they agreed not to inform insurance. H says he can’t do that. Jerk says that he knew H would break their (non-existent) agreement and claims that H is lucky that he didn’t call police because H was “stinking drunk.” H had just walked out his office! Someone may well have been drunk, but it wasn’t H. I have a feeling the jerk may already be on the brink of losing his license or his insurance, hence the bizarre behavior.
On a related note, Friday morning I note that my potted tomato plant has one almost perfectly ripe red tomato, and decide to leave it on the bush for one more day until it is perfect. Anticipating the first ripe tomato of the summer, get a head of romaine for a wonderful BLT. Saturday morning, the red tomato is GONE!!! Vanished! ARGH!!!

Parking an electric vehicle at an EV charger parking space without using the charger is akin to parking in a handicapped spot when not handicapped. Park in a regular spot, you lazy bum.

In other news, I am having pelvic/abdominal/thoracic CT scans with contrast today to see if anything is going on–any masses, etc–and although I wanted to do this I am losing my equanimity and positive attitude and getting progressively more anxious for no reason. Scanxiety, as they call it. Will get results from oncologist on Thurs. If I survive that long. :((
Yesterday we joined a club I did not want to be in nor expected - grieving over the breakup of S1 with his perfect-for-him girlfriend of 3 years. The city boy/country girl thing was just too much of an impediment. I hope they both end up with the life they want.
Another previous student is listed in the paper’s obituaries - a telephone call confirming he od’d. I wish we could get through to all of them. I wish no parent had to go through it. He was the same age as my med school lad. Two pregnancies at the same time. Two sets of parents going to year end performances from kindergarten on. Two totally different outcomes in mere years.
I wish we could get through to all of them. There is so much more to life if only they could see it and not get started on drugs.
My heart goes out to all parents in similar situations. We can’t make their choices.
