Say it here cause you can't say it directly- the get it off your chest thread (Part 1)

And this is why we didn’t want you to wait until the last minute to get the cabinets hung in the kitchen. Your “emergency” at another job site, is now our headache.

D3 had a frightening medical event on an airplane - a severe reaction to motion sickness. A last minute trip put her in the second row from the back, in the middle seat. There was turbulence. And her nausea triggered some kind of neurological stress reflex. Her arms became rigid, with her hands flexing towards her torso, to a painful extreme. She was breathing strangely, with closed eyes and a pale face. Her seatmate called the flight attendant who found a doctor (ENT) who said she might be dehydrated.

Next time kid, take that dramamine that you had with you the whole time. I’ll also make sure you have a Seaband, some prescription Zafran, that patch behind your ear, and maybe a few alcohol prep pads (since the smell of isopropryl alcohol is supposed to help with nausea).

Just trying to keep it all peaceful.
But just why do I have so many negative memories about this subject?
And you finally realize that I have not made them up.

Our health system is so screwed up. DS needs to have his wisdom teeth removed in Beirut (the oral surgeon was trained at BU, so I’m OK with it). The total cost of $1,900, including a night in the hospital and non-discounted blood clotting meds, is almost identical to the cost of our D’s in January. She had no hospital stay and we got meds cheap ($60 when the sticker price here is $2,500).

You are a special young man to me, but oh my gosh I wish I could see you just ONCE pose for a picture without that stupid cheesy grin. Since we don’t really see you except on FB, that is the only face I ever see. It is crazy. Lighten up. Be natural! Let me see your natural handsome face.

@StPaulDad has the best avatar on CC. I laugh every time I see it.

Yes, my kids play video games every day. yes, they eat Cheetos and drink about a gallon of Dr. Pepper. Yes, they should get better grades. At least they are nice and are not mouthy arrogant and entitled… usually.

To whoever is barbecuing in the neighborhood: It is dinner time, my windows are open to take advantage of the unseasonably cool day, I’m starving, your food smells delicious, but I’m trying to diet and my boring dinner does not have the same appeal…

Woot! Our high was down to double digits for the first time in two weeks! Never thought I’d think 98 degrees was ‘cool’.

D3 wanted to stay an extra day with us, and was very melancholy about it, because she wanted to be here for the rain. I went so far as to look up what it would cost ($293) before breaking her heart by saying no. It rained last night anyway, but she wanted more.

She gets to the airport today and her flight is delayed for some mechanical reason, and there’s no way to make her connection. Everyone is in line to get rerouted. United “agrees” to let her fly tomorrow instead! And they’re so grateful that they move her up into Economy Plus! Not raining today but we’re all happy!!!

Five more days and I get to hug you! It’s been a long time since January.

I can’t be getting a cold just as I’m changing jobs… it’s just not in the plan!

I’m so tired of fighting with you, local public high school. So wish we could have put daughter in the private school our boys attended. Left her with you because of her IEP needs were something the private school couldn’t handle. You handle those okay. But…

Every. Year.

Every. Year. We start off with me having to come in prepared to battle because her schedule is Always Wrong.

And the staff turnover means that I have to explain the whole history Every. Year.

And Every. Year. At least one staff member gives me the “we’ll get it fixed in a few days” line. School Starts Tomorrow.

My autism spectrum child cannot be told to “just walk the wrong schedule” for a vague amount of time.

Stop setting her up to fail. Stop making me be THAT parent.

We have one more year until she graduates.

Dear grocery store,
Ever since your remodeled you have sucked.
The heat was blasting on a 95 degree day but it is controlled by

Seriously? What exactly is left?

The Ohio State football coach may be taken down by a reporter that had to post the story on his Facebook page because he had been laid off from his employer (espn)

I am scared by the state of journalism these days. When an important story is broken by an unemployed reporter who breaks news on his Facebook because he has no where else to report it.

Buy a newspaper, support your investigative journalist!

I’m not just talking about sports here, but all news and all of the reporters who are struggling now. To inform us.

Riding in the car today my 20 yr old said “thanks for the life lessons”. This is after years of the eye roll as life lessons were being taught, lol.

I’m irked. You all keep making appointments that “surprise” NO ONE is available to drive the folks to and expect SOMEONE to magically drop everything and do it. Somehow, not one of the 7 people or their spouses in this family can do this and yet, you still keep making appointments that you magically expect SOMEONE to drive the folks to AND know what to say and do. I ask what has changed medically or in terms of symptoms or management since last appointment a month ago and I get NO ANSWER, just excuses why NO ONE can drive and magically somehow the folks are supposed to appear at this appointment that was made without consulting anyone who could actually drive the folks to it!?!!? Wow, such teamwork! Also I am told that this appointment is a FAVOR that the kind specialist is keeping open as he’s booked until December if not this ONE slot (which has already been moved once). Still NO ANSWER as to anything that has changed since the last appointment where the cardiologist just said to keep taking the same Rx that was prescribed. The patient will insist he’s fine and has no idea why he’s being seen, so then what?

Just driving a person to an appointment when they have no idea why they’re there doesn’t really accomplish a whole lot. NO ONE is providing any information to make the appointment in any way meaningful.

At least I figured out why I’ve been in a slump. Dealing with a new, difficult client the last few months really demotivated me. I worked really hard for him (even on Easter!) and he was not appreciative. I’m glad you haven’t asked me to do any more work for you! I don’t think we’re a good fit. Now I need to move on and get my act together.

I know why we have been fighting…I am going to miss you too. We’ve had our time and it is time for you to move on. Hope you will come home often.
