SCA Applicants

Yes, I hope that it will help you guys along in the process. I know it’s a difficult one.

Poik, honestly, I’m not sure I want to anymore. - USC has been my top choice for 2 years, and I’ve wanted to do USC Film for that long. I had prepared myself for the worst, and I was ready to accept that I might not be in the 4% that was accepted. Perhaps I will reapply next year as a transfer, but I will probably be doing that from another university, not from inside USC. I would hate to attend USC in hopes of getting into USC Film and then never get in; what a HUGE waste of money that would be.

I was actually quite turned off by the letter I received. Not because it was a ‘you didn’t get into your desired major’ letter, but because of the unpersonalized nature of it. I have been in the college process for a long time now, and I have never ever received a letter that didn’t have at least a computer generated signature on it. I’m not sure if this is normal, but my letter was just a tiny piece of USC letter head in the corner and then a machine printed out response. Schools are always telling us that we are not “just numbers,” but USC just made me feel like just that.

Either way, I wish you guys all the best in your admission decisions. It’s still a great program that they have (arguably the best there is), and I hope you guys get in!

As for me, I’m not sure what I’m doing, or even if I’ll be majoring in a film-related degree anymore.
Time will tell.
