Schedule Changes(Need Advice)

Hello, I need some advice.
My school just started for my senior year and since February I’ve had to change my schedule.
At first, my schedule was going to be this:
AP Literature,
AP Calculus AB,
US History
Physics,
French III
AP Computer Science Principles,
Band IV,

I had to change my schedule multiple times, as they canceled the Physics I wanted to take, and the AP Computer Science Principles class. I ultimately picked:
DE US Hist,
AP Literature,
AP Calculus AB,
Band IV,
AP Macroeconomics
AP Chem

My school made a requirement this year that we had to take a full year of US History and so I took US HIST I in the summer and was planning to take US HIST II in the fall semester…

However, the problem is, in Open House, I was given this schedule to my dismay:
US HIST II(DE)
AP Literature
AP Chemistry
AP Macroeconomics
AP Calculus AB,
TA Class

I was very confused… they could not fit Band VI into my schedule(because of DE), something I’ve been in since Middle School(I’ve won awards) and they gave me a TA Class, which I did not want.
I’ve been told that the only way to fit band into my schedule is by removing US HIST DE.
The two problems are: I don’t know if universities will accept me for just taking one semester of US HIST, it says I need one full Carnegie unit for the US History(In the colleges I’ve looked at), so US HIST I, won’t make it? And what about the fact that I did not take a CS class?
This is my concern… and now I’m stuck with an extra TA Class. This has all been made aware to me very recently and I only have a week to decide.
Am I good with just that summer semester class of US HIST I?
I’m not sure what to do, and didn’t know my schedule would be like this; if I’d known I would have taken a Computer Science DE class over the summer.
Any advice helps immensely!

The bigger issue is if the summer USH course will meet HS graduation requirements, which universally require one year / 1 Carnegie unit. If it does, then colleges will be satisfied.

Scheduling conflicts happen. Every college knows that. Personally, I’d try to resolve getting French into the schedule before CS.

I agree. French 3 is more important.

Here is your other thread where you got some good advice about your schedule:

Immediately go talk to your guidance counselor. Immediately.

I can’t understand a school stuffing someone into a TA class they didn’t want instead of an academic class. Go talk with your counselor and see if you can get this changed. If the counselor isn’t helpful then have a parent make an appointment with the counselor next week to insist that being a TA is not acceptable, you’re a student and not an unpaid worker. Sometimes schools will push around a kid.

Thank you for this information. I thought that the colleges had specific requirements about this but I see that it is really based on my own high school’s requirements. I am currently trying to get French (and Band) into my schedule and see if the US History class would count.

I am working on moving French to my schedule(I have not started the DE US Hist II so I still have time), and I also have friends in that class. Additionally, I haven’t spoken to my guidance counselor about the TA class yet(the one I had spoken to about the TA class before was another counselor), as my main goal was trying to fit Band. Thank you for clarifying what I should do(Monday is the last day to switch classes) and I will ask her if I could change it. I was a bit worried that asking more about my schedule would be a bit much as my parent and I have been emailing her extensively(about the Band situation), but I’ve decided that I don’t want to volunteer for the whole school year.

I really don’t know. I just know that I’ve already spent 150+ hours in the summer volunteering(working with children) and it will be a lot for me to do even more hours of volunteering every school day. I am going to speak with her about it and appreciate the advice.
