@PurpleTitan …I realize that but it hasn’t changed the fact that a majority(imo) of students whom are applying would be the same today. It’s their dream schools and even though they might not have the elite stats they figure what the heck.

This.

Wow, I’ve already seen 3 threads on the same page with basically the same theme: “Boo hoo, Harvard was my safety and my spot was stolen by a URM!! My first world problems are overwhelming me!!!”

O, how I love to read about the plight of the white male.

I understand your frustration, and it’s really tough to try so hard and put everything you have into working towards that goal, only for what you put on a piece of paper to be the determining factor of whether everything you did was good enough or not. You have to remember that the colleges didn’t reject you, they rejected your application. Admissions is a 2 part process. First the academics, and once you qualify academically (above the bottom 25% of last year’s acceptances is a good estimate to go off of) you will be considered equally with all the other students, even with lower GPAs and test scores as long as they were above that bottom 25%. The determining factor at that point is the fit for the university. And those details needed to come out in your activity sheet and essays. If your details didn’t convey 100% of what you actually did to contribute value, the admissions officers would never know it happened. If your heart is set on one of those schools, you should check to see if they accept appeals. It’s a slim chance, but it’s a second chance none-the-less.
