Hey, I am going to be a freshman next year and was also invited into the Scholars program. Honestly, it seems pretty legit. Basically, scholars is for the academic achievers that also like to help their community and such. We will live in Sullivan hall which is in the middle of campus, so it is really nice considering we are freshman. Also, the dorms are suite style and rather large, 24-hour visitation, alcohol free, etc.

As university scholars, we are going to do a lot of “enrichment activities” that I am guessing are like group activities and discussions (think like seminar type discussion). We also have access to the honors classes!!! Which I think is a major perk. We have study abroad oppurtunities. The activities and stuff I think are optional to an extent, but you probably have to come to a certain amount to remain in scholars.

We are selected on three things: top five percent of class, gpa of 4.5 weighted and 3.9 unweighted, and an sat of 1300 minus the writing. Scholars have to meet two f those requirements.

I think it seems really fun, and I already accepted my invitation. Do it! Come to NC State and be a scholar. I was dead set on Virginia Tech, but State offers just as much with a broader local scene and it’s so much cheaper. State has won me over, so just check it out and do some research.
