If you’ve graduated from hs, what are you doing now? What country are you from (big difference trying to get accepted from China or India and smaller countries)? What do you want to study? How much can you afford without a scholarship?
There is a big difference between getting into Harvard or Michigan with a scholarship and going to one of the smaller public schools in North Carolina or Montana.
You are right that many US citizens can’t pay $45k either. They don’t all get scholarships but many do get financial aid from the federal government and/or take out loans that you aren’t eligible for. Some work for corporations that help with tuition like HOme Depot, UPS, or Starbucks, but you aren’t eligible to work for these companies either.
If you belong to a religious group, it may have a school it sponsors (BYU, some of the Baptist church schools, Liberty). Some international students get athletic scholarships.
You should also be aware that many students piece together a lot of little scholarships and it isn’t a big scholarship from one source. My daughter had 9 different forms of FA on her freshman bill, and one additional one that was sent directly to her. School, state, federal…she just kept gathering them in to pay the bill.
