Scholarship questions

First, if I’m nominated for a scholarship, does USC pay for a roundtrip ticket to get me there and back for the interview? I’m from Kentucky and kind-of need the plane ticket, else It’ll be really hard to interview in the middle of the year.

Second, what are the general requirements/stats for students who are nominated for and/or receive scholarships?

Third, what do you think my chances are (For both admission and/or a scholarship)? Here’s a quick summary of my stats:

Applying to: Viterbi Engineering for Computer Engineering/Computer Science
GPA 3.91
ACT: 33 (34 M, 33 E, 33 R, 31 S) and 28 (35 M, 26 E, 26 R, 26 S)
School type: Public
APs: 2 APs Junior Year, 5 on Stats, 4 on English Lang; 4 APs Senior year, Psych, BC Calc, French, English Lit
ECs: French Club, NHS, Science Club, fairly weak here.
Awards: Top 10%, Magna Cum Laude, Commonwealth Diploma.
Essays: Maybe not amazingly written, but do an excellent job of bringing out my personality and passions, describe how I made a video game as a huge achievement of mine.

thanks for any help!

Is that UW or W GPA? Regardless, I think you have a good shot for admissions, though for scholarship, I’m not sure (if that’s W, then probably not, if it’s UW, you might depending on the rest of your application).

it’s unweighted

In the past, USC offered up to $60 towards flights from California, Nevada or Arizona, and up to $200 from “anywhere else.” (Another mom said they did not receive reimbursement for an International flight from Canada - so it might only apply to domestic flights.) You must book through the travel agent they specify, and the reimbursement is only for the student - not for any family members that come along.

" what are the general requirements/stats for students who are nominated for and/or receive scholarships? "

Selection Criteria

Candidates are selected by USC faculty and staff from an extremely competitive international pool. Applicants pursue the most demanding curriculum and achieve at the highest level. Average SAT and ACT scores are in the top 1–2 percent of all students nationwide. In addition to academic criteria, candidates’ talent, involvement and leadership are considered.

I think you’ll get in, but I wouldn’t count on a scholarship. There’s only 300 available, and the competition is pretty tough; your stats are good, but not elite. For example, I’m also trying to get a USC scholarship; I have a 4.5 weighted GPA, got a 35 on the ACT, and have a few more extracurriculars and AP classes. Good luck to you, though.

I know I have posted this link several times…but, all these answers can be thoroughly answered by me or my friend (both administrators of the official sc group of 2014):
