Of course my s was very disappointed about ff, but we and his counselor did explain to him that this was still quite an honor because only 55 letters went out to ff/bernard ramsey and only 45 get offered presidential, and since there were over 900 ff applicants that puts you near the top of the whole applicant pool and in the top 100 of all entering freshman.
