School of Cinematic Arts Prospective Students 2017

I love the guy as an actor. Yeah, sometimes he can come off as a bit of a d-bag (case in point the NYU acting course he got a D in), but in a way he is an academic at heart. I would take a class or two just to see things from a (successful) actor.

I like the approach, but honestly I do find MFA Production to be counter intuitive. All the technical stuff isn’t that hard to learn. Yes, it works for some, but for me at least I don’t think it is that important. I would rather intern during my BA years, make some short films independently from class, and have a decent mix of internships (work experience?), vision, and understanding of film when I graduate.

I am not depending on my BA to get me anywhere. I see a USC Cinematic Arts degree as kind of like a box of tools (creative nurturing, film studies courses, film equipment) and spare parts (internships, jobs, opportunities), and not an actual ride (car) to a good career. You don’t necessary have to go to USC to get the box of tools and spare parts, but I know it will be there for me and that the tools and part will be good. Hopefully, I will be able to make my own car and drive myself to success.

Very weird analogy. But if you get to know me more (hopefully), you will know that I like to make analogies between completely different things.
