Schools for intellectual students with bad grades

Uchicago, Brandeis, NYU, Cornell, Emory, Georgetown, Carnegie Mellon, USC, Tufts, Wake, BC. That list is pretty haphazard but hopefully you’ll get some ideas of school to apply to. I have a pretty similar profile ( high class rank, 34 ACT, prospective econ major, lowish GPA) and I think I’m headed to Brandeis next year. Good luck!

I thought to clarify I would add that i tend to be intellectual and that I was accepted to Brandeis.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!

I agree with a previous poster with regard to Wooster - you should look at it. My D had the same ACT score as you with a so-so GPA and got their highest merit scholarship, she is a sophomore there now and doing quite well. A few of the Econ professors at Wooster have come from other (more ‘highly’ ranked if you believe the USNWR stuff) LACs due to its reputation and the Senior Independent Study requirement.
