Schools which recieve little attention but are of good to very good quality

In NY State:

SUNY Geneseo
Hartwick
Fordham
Alfred
Bard

Vanderbilt! It’s definitely well known in the South, but in the Northeast and the West, it’s not as highly regarded.

Bennington is so little that it doesn’t get much notice on boards like this but I have been very impressed with the quality of work that is demanded and recieved by the professors there. I think that, in general, one doesn’t necessarily get as well rounded an education as at some other schools, but the depth a student can explore, and the experiences they can have, related to the subjects of their choice is outstanding!

I agree with collegehelp. Allegheny College is a good liberal arts college with a dedicated, experienced faculty and a close-knit community within the campus, that makes for an individualized education.

I agree with Carolyn that you could add any number of the larger public universities in the USNWR first tier ranking, particularly for specific programs. Examples: University of Connecticut (business, pharmacy, education); University of Missouri-Columbia (journalism); Kansas State University (all agricultural majors, landscape architecture, biotechnology). As to K-State, here’s a surprise that I’m betting most people don’t know: <a href=“Admissions at Kansas State University”>Admissions at Kansas State University; My theory as to why K-State and the University of Kansas don’t get much attention (other than as to sports) is because the Kansas Board of Regents sets very low admissions criteria for both schools, essentially putting them into the “non-competitive” admissions category – doesn’t mean that both schools don’t have some very smart kids, though.

Someone just mentioned Fordham University. Also Rensselaer Polytech University is gaining popularity and is really strong in the sciences and mathematics.
CUNY Honors college, but i’m not sure if kids outside of nyc can apply there.

Barnard College

I have heard that WSB-NLU, this is one of the best economic universities in Poland, My friend graduated that school and he works in Good Year as a director responsible for East Europe

I think the fact that one comes out of Bennington with a resume, due to the mandatory annual Field Work Term, is highly underrated. I feel like I already have so much experience in my chosen field, which is ultimately as important as one’s transcript, or as the name of one’s college.

Louisville
West Virginia
Muhlenberg
DePaul
Cincinnati
Lehigh
Marquette
Gettysburg
Allegheny
Grove City
Lafayette
Providence
St. John’s
Seton Hall

William & Mary/Rice/Tufts/Wake Forest/Davidson/Carleton/Georgetown are all very underrated, excellent schools. Esp b/c of the focus on undergrad teaching.

CASE WESTERN RESERVE U.

check the stats…

Rose Hulman Institute of Technology

1 in Undergraduate Engineering for 8 years and has the highest retention rate among engineering schools along with a 99% job placement rate within 6 months of graduating. It’s pretty kickin’, it’s definitely given me the best years of my life.

I second Rose Hulman
