Score This June ESSAY Please! AND HELP with a hand-scoring decision!

so if the omit was actually a wrong answer, i would go down how many points, 10 to 20?

and obviously if it were a right answer, i would get an 800. but could the machine really mess up? i'm sure i didn't omit any but how could it think that i did?

as for the essay, i almost requested a re-score last time (a freekin 7!) so i know it is possible and they refund your $50 if there was an error...i also think the two new scorers do not know your previous score (but they will obviously know it's not a 12 since im getting it re-scored). i feel sure a 10 or 11 would be the new many points would that increase my 700 (5 MC wrong) in writing?

oh sorry, i had 2 wrong and 1 omit in CR for a 780 but only 2 wrong with 0 omit on my form was an 800.

Oh then if your answer was wrong you will lose at least 10 points because a 3/4 of a point deduction will round to the next lower whole number. How are you so sure you'll get a 10 or 11, one of the two previous graders thought your essay was only a 4 (out of 6).

Can someone post the link on the CB site for essay re-scoring on the SAT...I can't find it.

The easiest thing to do is call them and then they'll give you an address to write to and what information to send along. (609) 771-7600

dmct, bc that's what everyone here says...i know a 4 is possible too.

Sorry if I sounded harsh in my reply, no offense intended

I know you can call them, but is there a link to a web-site available is all I am asking.

You probably got a 9 cause you didn't have three examples. I thought the essay it self was pretty good....give it a 9

You are only supposed to have 2 examples... at least that was what I was told.

I got a 10 in March and only had two examples (though explained them in great detail). My essay is up in the thread "We Should De a CC Essay Compilation."

There is no rules for how many examples to have. They're testing your writing skills, and are probably more skeptical on those that send them yet another cookie-cutter with 3 examples of history and literature, a conclusion, and an essay. Did you guys not see the guy who wrote the farthest opposite of the above-mentioned cookie cutter essay who got a 12?

... for the essay re-score, if you got a lower score on the second time around, would the Collegeboard lower your score?

I don't know that for certain but that's what everyone here says.

Is this just a question of spending money? That is really a personal decision and if you want the 1600, then of course you should get it rescored.

It's a question of money and risking the points already achieved.

yeh...should i get the essay re-scored too? it's a 9 right now.

I took the reasoning test january this year and when I got my score report, I omitted 1 cr question (and 1 less anology than I thought). It turned out that I just skipped a question to go back to it and never did and that I answered 1 more anology than I thought. I don't think it's worth it but if you've got money, go ahead.

OK, well....seeing how the college board is a little nuts about grading right now, I was thinking that maybe have one more example (even if it's not fully explained) would give you a 10. Because they are crazy

But i honestly still believe that it was a 9. The examples were vague and there wasn't any real insight, just some good vocabulary.
