Question for those admitted. Did your status change today anytime after about 9:15 this am? Or was your acceptance there the first time you checked the portal today. Seems like they released this am around 9:15 but no other updates since then. Or did anyone have their status change since 9:15 this am from PENDING to ADMITTED? Thanks
gabwedooby, thanks for calling the school!
@futurenurse77 I believe admission into the nursing major is based solely off the same eligibility index as the other majors, which is calculated with gpa and ACT/SAT.
Applied for nursing
4.33 GPA
1290 SAT
EI: 4754
I thought maybe I had somewhat decent chances of acceptance but with my admission status still pending I am starting to lose hope! Those accepted already have AMAZING EI’s so I am starting to get a feel for how difficult the nursing program is to get into!
@searching4colleges I checked mine around noon today and it said admitted; I didn’t check it before
@futurenurse77: The Nursing major is ranked by your Eligibility index but you also have to meet the HS course requirements and grades.
Minimum grades of B in Intermediate Algebra, Biology, and Chemistry with lab courses. If AP or IB level courses were taken in these areas, applicants must have earned a minimum grade of B.
Here is the academic Nursing profile for the last few years: https://nursing.sdsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Freshman-Admission-Statistics.pdf
Were you accepted in december or today @wj3lhs
@cupcake01 I feel the same way, and yes the Nursing major is one of the most difficult, competitive majors at sdsu. Also, just for reference, my friend got in this morning into nursing with a 3.8 CSU gpa and a 1350 SAT. I believe your gpa has a larger impact on the eligibility index then test scores if that helps.
@thedumbsmartguy232 - DS’s friend accepted today for Biology - she saw the portal update around noon. We don’t know her stats tho. He is still anxiously waiting with EI of 4350 for Bio
@socalstudent0 do you know why some nurses have gotten accepted already while many others are still pending? I always thought nurses were the last to hear. Knowing that some have already received acceptance just makes me even more nervous lol
does taking additional medical classes in high school help at all? @Gumbymom
Has anyone heard for theatre yet?
For those who are wondering UCSB notices just went out.
Any news about Engineering (Mechanical) applicants? Son’s status still shows"Pending."
We have not heard back for theatre
Folks don’t forget to click the magnifying glass / search icon right on this thread next to the page number links to search for your major. I’ve found it to be very helpful when searching for Nursing, for example.
I just called SDSU Admissions and they said they are not releasing admission decisions grouped by major, it is just random. Also, the admission decisions will be sent out in waves and will be done in two weeks.
Hi! What are your stats? @srose2018
@Socal272022: If they were taken in addition to the normal science courses such as Biology/Chemistry/Physics, Stats/Calculus/Algebra 2/Pre-Calc etc… and are a-g courses considered by the CSU’s, then yes they can help. If they were taken instead of these Science/Math courses and are not a-g courses then no, they will not help for admissions but will help with your Nursing courses.
