Sea Year

I would suggest that he email his ATR and ask him.

Mine was on a Break Bulk that had a similar situation only the country was Kuwait. She was flown on short notice from Kuwait to JFK. We got the call – Pick me up at JFK in 17 hours.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get sea days other than during one’s split time or on the Kings Pointer? Are there ways to obtain sea days on weekends or in that "tween time after a mid comes off his assigned ship and when classes begin? Thanks

It might be better to direct those questions to an ATR…

Just heard from our son, he has been in contact with his ATR and he will be flown back to school from Turkey. He continues to learn a great deal and in enjoying the entire experience.

Well. the next group got their ship assignments.
Good luck to all.

just heard from son while in Oahu…went skydiving for the first time on the North Shore…said it was great…now that is a cool experience ,especially over the North Shore of Oahu…gave me a little heart failure, but I am happy for his opportunities…last time he was in guam he and the engine cadet went snorkeling and he said it was awesome…this whole trip has been good. lets hear from others about their assignments.

my son has yet to call me in about 3 weeks, but I think he is on the east coast/gulf coast now. SO, I expect a call any moment… LOL

I do know that he is going back to the middle east and when in Dubai will fly back to NYC, but probably a few days into the new classes.

That has me worried, as I don’t want him to miss any classes, but he also needs the sea days as he went out later due to summer school… so anyways, it just has me a little bit worried for him, but I am sure he will be fine.

I too can’t wait to hear other sea stories! cjcatl, How cool to sky dive and snorkel!

And even if I don’t hear any good stories from my son before he goes back to usmma, Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and we will feast and hear all the stories then.

Sea Stories…

They remind me of the phrase, “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”.

Are you certain RoyceDM you REALLY want to hear the sea stories??? :)

CJ! Don’t worry about skydiving…it is actually a very safe sport. I jumped for years and am still here to talk about it!!

HECK yeah! I wanna hear them!

well, maybe!

I am sure, for his mother, he would keep them R rated and not X-rated. LOL

Just putting out the word that if any KPers come into the Port of Oakland and want a home cooked meal we are 30 minutes away and would be happy to adopt any of them during their time in port.

How sweet of you KPFootballMOM!

I love this KP family.

thanks kpfootball mom…son just went through oakland for the last time before going back to kp…he had a great time in sfo. He may end up flying out of there or tocoma back to kp at the end of the month. Royce DM, those sea stories will be great thanksgiving day chat…maybe after dinner would be safer. Suzzanegra, that is so cool. i wanted to do skydiving in college, but in those days parents had to sign off on any risk type sport. When I asked my parents to sign they just laughed as I was still hobbling around from being thrown by a horse during my horseback riding class…not good timing for me to ask…he he

You all are adventure seekers! LOL

Skydiving & snorkeling? Whats going on here? Where are the stories about those yummy roasted guinea pigs, the group of 10 year old pick pockets they take down the street & feed & how about the entertaining snake eating lady? Why am I getting all the bizarre stuff? Somebody trade me Mids.

Would you rather here stories about your son visiting a former member of the Soviet Union for a month where the only thing to do was go to the Seaman’s club drink somewhat cold soda and be approached every night by sub-standard women? I didn’t think so.

^^^ :D

Oh yes I do. Hey. Did the “substandard women” give you business cards? Just curious to see if its like other parts of the world.

If any KP’er reaches the
“Pearl of the Chesapeake”
BALTIMORE
Please email me for a plate
of oysters and a few cold ones
at the Market

This would be my great pleasure

Davy there are some things that are on a “need to know” basis, and nope, I don’t need to know unless I am taking a health history.

BTW all, we live in the Seattle area and we’d be happy to entertain anyone in port also. Port of Tacoma is just a little over a half hour drive from our home.

I’m between Baltimore and DC and would love to see any KP’er that’s in the area–and I won’t give them oysters!!–I think they are gross!! (No offense prouddad!!) Maybe steak or crabs??
