No place better July 5th through September!
I beg to differ.
No place better July 5th through Oct 5th.
Being silly.
It’s been great year round lately, actually!
We recently visited Seattle. I lived there from 73-89, and it’s probably been 10 years since I’ve been in the city. I was flabbergasted by how many more people and cars there are now than when I was there. OMG. The traffic! Both on the streets and on the sidewalks.
But we had a fantastic time. The weather was great. We were visiting D and her boyfriend, who moved there last year, so she got to show us around to all of her places. Besides that, we visited Ballard and the locks, Capitol Hill including Volunteer Park and the Conservatory, the International District, and went up to Snoqualmie to have dinner with friends who live there. We also visited my alma mater, UW, and I showed D and DH the Quad and Red Square. DH was blown away by Suzzallo and took about a hundred pictures inside. As we stood looking down the Rainier Vista (with a perfect view of the mountain), D said, “I see why you love this place.”
The food, omg, the food…
Wow, we did enjoy Seattle in our two visits over the last few years. It does seem a fun and vibrant place. Our visit was short and we had lovely weather–June and September. We did the tourist things and Ranier. We had a great time, but for us, Oahu is home, as that’s where my folks and sibs live–have found no place that can match HI for food! (Still waiting to see where our kids settle.)
“Vibrant” is the very word my DH used.
Yesterday was the day to be here . . . opening day of boating season, crew races in the cut, sun . . . can’t be beat!
As long as you stay away from the May Day riots!
I was at the Showbox Friday & Saturday nights. Friday we took the bus, just in case.
Which could have been a good decision if the march hadn’t been managed, but the bus stopped running to our neighborhood after midnight, so we had to walk the rest of the way. It was ok, but my shoes weren’t chosen with walking in mind.
Saturday, I went by myself, so I drove. I actually felt safer Saturday, because I was only walking a few blocks, instead of waiting 45 min for the bus, surrounded by suspicious characters.
But damn, it was worth it.
Ann Wilson & Mike McCready doing Zeppelin set, including Dazed and Confused which they just nailed.
& I got a pick!
