Second Ebola patient

I take it back. The news said he was self-qurantining. If the doctor was out and about feeling sluggish, that’s bad, bad.

Initial reports sounded as if be was in self quarantine since his arrival to the US. Apparently, not so. In light of the facts that are coming out… He should have known better. Just like Amber.

I was thinking the same thing. I have my suspicions about why the two have been treated so differently but I will keep them to myself.

Well, Sally, I finally read a few fresh links… I think we have similar suspicions.

We’ll see if they are treated differently. The initial report erroneously said he was in self-qurantine. Now that the ruth is coming out, the reaction will change, I think.

The news stated that he had self quarantined. They made it sound as if he had been that way since he returned from West Africa. I guess we can’t comment on reports we hear, because the news now worries about being first rather than having the details and reporting accurately.

^^^I can’t argue with that. The first reports I personally read included the Uber taxis and bowling alley excursions.

Meanwhile, Paul Allen pledges more $$$ to fight Ebola:

<a href=“Paul Allen pledges $100 million to fight ebola”>http://money.cnn.com/2014/10/23/news/paul-allen-ebola/index.html</a></p>

Total = $100M

Dr. Craig Spencer has just tested positive for Ebola.

^^^Damn. No, Double, Triple Damn.

oh man. Will he be coming to Maryland, Nebraska or Atlanta?

Tested positive and did not quarantine. He took the subway and went bowling yesterday then took an Uber ride home I guess.

<a href=“Doctor in New York City Is Sick With Ebola - The New York Times”>http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/24/nyregion/craig-spencer-is-tested-for-ebola-virus-at-bellevue-hospital-in-new-york-city.html</a></p>

I hope the citizens of NYC will be able to stay calm and take some comfort from the painful lessons learned in Dallas. It doesn’t appear that these ebola patients are incredibly infectious in the very beginning of their illnesses. Fortunately, this virus is not a really sneezy type of infection in spite of all the worries about nasopharyngeal droplets produced by sneezing and coughing. They do not display copious diarrhea and vomiting in the early hours.

The likelihood of this doctor infecting anyone other than his fiancee are pretty small. And hopefully she was not exposed to any of his body fluids either.

Thinking of the people in NYC. I know it’s frightening when what happens “over there” suddenly appears in your back yard.

“Lucky for NY they were the second to have to deal with this. It makes it a lot easier to do it the right way when you watched the situation in Texas.”

There where two possible cases back in August in NYC. Both Mount Sinai and Bellevue knew what to do then. <a href=“New York doctors await man's Ebola test results”>http://www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-ebola-new-york-testing-20140804-story.html</a></p>

Shame about the doctor’s diagnosis and I agree he should have known better. That being said, it is highly doubtful anyone contracted Ebola from him.

I assume he will get appropriate treatment and the outcome will be as good as the other American patients have been.

Great . . . he started to feel “sluggish” on Tuesday but went out Wednesday night anyway?! So much for an abundance of caution. >:P

I don’t know about citizens of NYC. Stocks fell about 0.5% on the new earlier in the afternoon.

Bad, bad, bad situation is an understatement.

Apparently, he came back less than 21 days ago and has not been to work at his regular employer since returning. At least that Presbyterian can sigh relief.

NYC physician tests positive for Ebola - CNN;

I read somewhere that he (doctor) went bowling.

“Stocks fell about 0.5% on the new earlier in the afternoon”

And stocks are only bought and sold by residents of NYC?

Well that is good to know. Although they didn’t actually have to test the protocol for treating Ebola patients, I am hoping they would have gotten that part right too.
