Second Ebola patient

Does ANYONE dispute keeping “Ebola infected travelers” out of anywhere but a hospital? Is that even a question?
Perhaps the real question is “Ebola exposed” or “potentially exposed” travelers, which is a question. I would be ok with quarantining contact networks. In fact, I think we have no choice.

Criticizing CDC is polital but talking about Texas is not?

It seems to me that any “solution” becomes costlier and costlier as each day goes by. Hopefully, it will not be 1918 all over again. (Not intend to spread the fear here, but all I am trying to say is that it could be a very challenging problem, at local (e.g., hospital), state, federal, and global level.)

Criticizing the CDC is not political. It is important.

Criticizing the CDC is not political, it is attempts to harness the public distrust of the Feds to steer the public attention from the real problem - the hospital administration bureaucrats. Didn’t the HAI saga of the mid-2000 teach them anything?!

BTW, the hospital just up the hill (the biggest regional trauma center that deals with a lot of nasty stuff) says they are ready for Ebola:

http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2024716148_ebolapreparednessxml.html</a></p>

http://www.doh.wa.gov/Newsroom/2014NewsReleases/14140HarborviewMedicalCenterVolunteerstoTakeEbolaPatients</a></p>

The nurse

Hospital bureaucrats are not public institutions. CDC is. I can choose not to go to an ineffective hospital. I have only one CDC and it better work well at times like this. Besieds, fixing a Texas hospital doesn’t help me at all since I doubt the problem is limited to this particular hospital. It could have happened anywhere.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I could do with a good wedding thread.

Carry on… X_X

Consolation, there is the hose thread! :D

I could start a wedding thread… I did have a nightmare the other day that my wedding day came and I had nothing done. o.o

Something came up in my newsfeed that the hospital didn’t use protection for two days. I can’t find the link now. Will post when I find it.

Too controversial. :)

This thread is going down the path that had the other thread shut down. I will be in Dallas this weekend on my weekend getaway for the second time in 3 weeks. I hope there won’t be a ban on travelers coming out of Dallas. Oh yeah, people want to avoid Cleveland, I heard there was an Ebola patient there too. Before this thread shuts down, anyone want to join me next year for a trip to Liberia next year?

I am expecting an engagement in my house before the end of the year. I could start a thread about whether my D should invite my sister and/or niece, and how other people have dealt with weddings when one side was substantially larger than the other . . .

I don’t want it shut down, and promise not to post anything political if no one else is given a pass. While we are at it, can we ban the word “hysterical?” It is insulting and is not descriptive of people who want all the information and precautions.

Can we also please keep the FUD out of this thread?

Can I also turn everyone’s attention to other viruses that may be on their way here? These are the other viruses we are ignoring until the news channels decide they need viewers: Machupo, Junin, Rift Valley Fever, Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever, Nipah and Hendra viruses. Let’s get Ebola prevention right before we have these other viruses to deal with.

I agree. There hasn’t been any hysteria on this thread, just as there wasn’s on the other. As we can see from evolving public statements, nothing in this topic is written in stone. what may be believed to be true today may be completely disproved tomorrow. It’s fine to ask a question, it’s fine to have someone say something we don’t agree with as long as it is done respectfully. However, making what is clearly a political statement without using the P word and pretending it’s not political, is a sure way to get the thread closed.

Why do people who wants a wedding thread hang out at an Ebola thread? It’s a bit macabre.

What is FUD?

I think another @zoosermom wedding thread would be a great distraction!

Now, back to Ebola…

While I understand that if everyone does the right thing the right way, systems are in place to contain ebola. The problem I have is that I don’t trust people to do the right thing. I think it is the potential for human error, or human stupidity that has me concerned.

And so it begins…<a href=“Texas college bans students from 'Ebola countries'”>http://finance.yahoo.com/news/texas-college-bans-students-ebola-215612192.html</a>

^^^^Please don’t tell me that they admitted five students from Sierra Leone.
