when you go to that link, by default it has “summer a” session set to login. you need to click on the drop down menu next to the “term and year” field and select the term you applied for i.e. fall 2008, summer c etc

I did and the same message appeared. Apparently I stayed up for nothing.

S was accepted for summer. He is disappointed. It doesn’t feel like a “real acceptance”. For what it’s worth, the housing and fee thing didn’t work for him. Neither showed any activity before midnight. I haven’t checked it since then; S just checked the main status update page.

nosferatu, did you get an interview for the film school? S didn’t get one. You’d think they’d send out a rejection letter rather than just letting you hear through the grapevine that they are holding interviews and therefore surmising that you weren’t invited. :-/

Yes, I got an interview.

It’s this Saturday. Some expensive trip down there all the way from Virginia.

I agree, the system seems a bit harsh.

timely - I think with the current admission cut backs you were just a little un-timely by missing the first deadline. Your scores and grades look quite impressive so do not take offense to Summer admission. There is nothing wrong with Summer acceptance - this means you are IN. In fact, many students who were accepted for Fall wish they started the Summer before. Congratulations to all those accepted and we will continue to keep our fingers crossed for the deferred students.

KOLOM - Read the current housing agreement terms and conditions. You get most of your deposit back if you tell them you are not coming to FSU by certain dates:

REFUND POLICY/INITIAL SEMESTER

1) If written notice of decision not to be enrolled at Florida State University is received PRIOR to the official opening date of the residence halls, a refund of all fees paid will be made LESS:

• $50 if cancellation is received through May 1

• $75 if cancellation is received May 2 through July 1

• $100.00 if cancellation is received July 2 and prior to the official opening date of the residence halls.

2) After Official Opening Date: If written notification of withdrawal from the University is received in the housing office after official opening date and before Friday ending the first full week of classes, a 50% obligation of one semester housing fees will apply. No refunds or waiver of fees will be made after Friday ending the first full week of classes.

TImely, my instate D and friends applied FOR summer term. It is a real acceptance, and he is in. OK, many kids want to just have fun the summer before college, or work to save up some cash. But instate, with as competitive it is to get into the state flagship schools, no one around here thinks that a summer admit is less than an admit. Really. Since Florida students at Florida universities have to do at least one summer term to graduate, many like to just get it out of the way first. FSU cut 1000 places from its freshman class of 08, so a summer yes is a big YES.

we are from oos. our s got accepted, in fact applied for the summer C session. It seems like a really good way to start your college experience. Great way for an oos student to meet new people, get acclimated to the campus and gear up for the busy Fall semester.

Initially, our s thought he would really like to have his last high school summer at home, but as the year has progressed, he has become increasingly more excited about going to college and getting started sooner rather than later.

Most of his friends, in fact all of his friends applied to colleges for Fall admission. We learned about summer admission by reading these boards and speaking with an admission rep when we visited fsu last summer. Our s has three other friends who applied to FSU, but did not apply for summer session, and missed the first admission notification in November. Only one of the three got deferred, the others rejected and they are very good students. Now he feels even better about having applied for the summer session.

Summer admission is not a slap in the face and it certainly does not mean that you are a “conditional Nole” .

Also, the class sizes tend to be a bit smaller in the summer. If FSU is your son’s school of choice, then try to encourage him to view the summer admission as his ticket in.

Now that you are accepted, you can do the following:
