Security systems

Did you mean to say that the majority of daytime break-ins are through the front door, or something else?

I believe that’s what he told me. Fewer people around during the day so not as likely to be seen if they try the front door than if they try the front door during the evening when more people are home. At any rate, we lived at the end of a cul-de-sac which gets basically no drive-by traffic which could have increased our risk also.

We have alarms at our businesses . One of them goes off sometimes if it is a very windy night so when my husband gets the call from alarm company , if it is the front doors, we request for them NOT to call police ( we have cameras so we can see if something is amiss )
At our other house, I set the alarm off and the police did show up and were kind of jerky….it seemed like they were just being nosy by asking for all my husband’s ID , not satisfied with his drivers license ( Int’l ) It was clear when they walked through the entire house that all was well as my young children were sitting at the dinner table and eating dinner…that was a one time thing , but I have set the alarms off a couple of times and police did arrive

In my city, we can be fined if we have too many false alarms that involve police. So our alarm system is not set up to immediately call the police. The alarm company calls us, asks for our password, and if we don’t give the right one, or we don’t answer our phone, they will call the police.

We also have a panic button which will immediately call police, as well as a “fake” code that indicates that police need to come.
