Selective Scholarship?

Oh no Ace, make no mistake -I’m sure Cox is a GREAT opportunity!!! It’s just that it wasn’t the first choice for my daughter for a few reasons. BUT…if it was the type of scholarship my daughter got, I’m sure she’d happily accept it. However, while she has no interest in research, she does have a huge interest in 2-3 very time consuming extra curricular activities (or even extra classes for a minor)-and you probably noticed that athletes can’t be Cox Scholars, I’m sure due to time constraints (she also has an interest in one club sport on top of those other things!). So that required 8-10 hours a week might well have been a deal breaker for her because she is a student who needs the time to really WORK for good grades. If she gets all the scholarships for which we have our collective fingers crossed, she’ll have more than a full ride anyway, but without those 10 hours a week. I’m sure it would be great to have on her record for grad school admittance, but…she intends to serve/participate at IU in other ways. On top of which, with 40 students, it’s obviously highly selective and I think she’d be outside that “cut”. So it’s nothing she really considered/looked into/expected. I know some Wells Scholars, but I don’t personally know anyone who is a Cox Scholar, so I can’t speak intelligently about the program. But…if that’s something YOU are interested it - GREAT…I’m sure it’s a wonderful program/opportunity and I hope you get it!
