Sending SAT score to compensate for lower grade in Math -for Stanford and USC

Since for some reason, the OP decided to simultaneously start a match me thread, perhaps the college suggestions should be listed in that thread, leaving this thread for discussion of calculus and SAT. Unless one of the @moderators wants to merge.

Check USC first-year student profile for its SAT score and GPA:

Is she applying to all the UCs? Her local CSU/other CSUs? What are her UC GPAs?

CSU GPA?

I would drop Ga Tech and Purdue, with a 3.67 it sounds like there are B’s in addition to the C (and B’s are an issue at those schools, let alone the C), I agree those are two odd choices for psych. Maybe consider IU instead?

U Maryland is a reach, make sure to apply EA (apply EA to all schools that offer it.) She’ll be in at ASU, tOSU a target. Has she considered Boulder, Oregon, Oregon State, U Utah? Any private schools in CA appeal, such as LMU, Chapman, USD, Santa Clara?

I would encourage your D to save the Stanford app for last, so she can do a great job on all the other apps first. Stanford is not realistic IMO. Good luck.

If your daughter wants to stay close to home, why not look to some of the very good private schools like Pepperdine, LMU, Santa Clara, USD, or USF? As for UCs, I believe UCR and maybe UCSC are possibilities to likely as is SJSU. She should apply to USC or Stanford if those are her dream schools, but the chances are remote. But, you never know. For those two schools, submitting the 1420 SAT will hurt her chances.
