In the past, after the scholarship notifications went out- all remaining applicants who submitted their applications by the scholarship deadline received a letter informing them that they did not receive one of the big scholarships. Included in this letter was a request to send in 1st semester senior grades. It was not optional.

I noticed from recent thread, http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/858946-those-waiting-update-letter-received-admission-today.html, itsv quoted part of the letter received this year and it does ask for senior grades. It does not appear it is optional.

For the record, DS had stats similar to those receiving scholarships, did not receive one of the big scholarships, and was asked for senior grades- it was not optional. He received his acceptance about 1 week after submitting grades which was at the end of February.

Perhaps there are some who did not receive this letter but I don’t remember hearing anyone state that in the past.
