I actually think the moral of the story is that holistic means holistic. Schools like Stanford take the kids they want to take. A compelling application doesn’t need to have every single box checked; a kid that doesn’t meet an institutional need can have AP’s and EC’s out the wazoo and STILL won’t clear the bar. And the secondary moral is that a HS student doesn’t need to contort themselves, but covering off the core academic disciplines is never a bad thing. Take physics and still don’t get into Princeton? At least you’ve now learned some physics for wherever you end up and wherever life takes you. Your HS doesn’t offer physics? You can’t take what isn’t taught.

Nono, of course I have a full 6-period schedule, it’s just that the other two are required from ASB and DECA, which is why I didn’t list them!
And Calc BC is not offered at my school, unfortunately.
6 period high schools do make it harder for students to fit in 4 years of 5 core subjects, 1 year of art, high school requirements like health and PE, and significant additional electives or class periods required by extracurriculars.
