a perpendicular slope is the negative recripical. x changes to -1/x.

@CSMathAsa1994

that’s wrong, it’s the negative reciprocal of the COEFFICIENT. the answer should have been -x.

if you don’t believe me, go graph y=x and y=-1/x … do they look perpendicular to you?

y=-1/x even without graphing it, you can tell is going to be curved because as x gets larger and larger, y will approach 0. Also, y=-1/x cannot have x=0 as that would result in 0 in the denominator.

As jd said, negative reciprocal is of the SLOPE, more correctly. if you have y=mx+b, then for any value b, a perpendicular line will have y=(-1/m)x+b, where m is the slope and we take the negative reciprocal of it.

i can’t believe i missed that. so ****ing stupid lol that’s gonna kill my chance at a 36 math

OMG, i just got an email yesterday saying that my test was misadministrated, i need to take a retest on september 24, thats tmr!!! IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE? they say some breached protocol occured and they canceled my score, but they ll let me retest for free and refund me…COME ON…!!! has this ever happened before!!! retest on a non-testing date?

^^ LOLOLOL *** … I feel so bad for you. hopefully your score will come a lot faster than the regular time period.

oh my gosh!!! how was the one you took today in relation to the other one?

Power4good, that SUCKS. Especially since the scores are supposed to come out in 2 days.

Can anyone give me advice on studying for the science section? I could never finish it on time, or even answer the questions correctly…

Look at a lot of past science experiments that use graphs and practice with the scientific method to get in the mindset of evaluating what an experiment proved and how each variable effected it.

if I were Power4good i would be SO TICKED

FINISHED!!! although sitting 4 hours gave me a butt cramp but i think it was totally worth it: the essay was a lot easier and i had a LOT to talk about, filled in 3 pages. Math was similar. English was way easier. Reading was a lot better, and straightfoward too. Science…omg straight-for-ward!!! I think god is helping this poor boy out. This is a sign.

@Dingdongbell, whenever you are at science section, go straight to questions, 80% is data interpretation. usually asks “in figure 2, when temp is blah blah, what is pressure”. Just use common sence. If question asks about some details about protocols, you can always go back.

@power4good how long until your scores come? Regular ~16 day waiting period or faster?

hey everybody… my friend just got his scores in the mail early. anybody else get ur score early?

the majority of people who requested score reports by mail in california

what number question was the one about the ratio of the windmills form 15-19.

i need the question number. please.
thanks

I got mine early. I saw one and five point improvements on the English and math tests respectively. Yet, I suffered a four-point loss on the reading (in part due to the fact that I didn’t get back from break until the proctor had nearly finished giving directions and starting the test).

So, I’m left with the same ****ty 31 composite. This sucks.

Should I take it again?

on the science section, form 64f, there was a section about windmills. one of the questions was about the ratio difference between 15-19 seconds. can ANYONE tell me what NUMBER qustion that was.

i need to know what number question that was.
thanks

PS ----- important--------

I. Can’t. Wait. Until. Midnight.

I just want something above a 30…

What time are the scores released in Eastern Standard Time?

The internet says it’ll come out at 1:00 EST. My friend thinks it’ll come out at midnight the same time everywhere (12:00 EST, 12:00 mountain time, etc.) but I’m not too sure if she’s right or not. Hopefully not…so I can get my scores in 30ish minutes rather than 2 hours and 30ish minutes.
