@sarajessica it depends, do you want to major I’m more stem related fields? If so go with the higher science score, but if not go with the other one. If anything just send both in.
I emailed them asking if there was a problem with my testing center… Standard reply…

Who has gotten their writing scores? And how long did it take after composite scores?
I got my writing score… 2nd batch of writing scores and I was in the 1st batch of composite scores (really lucky…)
I got a 33 composite and a 16 on the writing. Will DEFINITELY be requesting a re-score. Will colleges just throw my application out after seeing that? I really didn’t think my essay was that horrendous.
@sallyarmy48 Absolutely not. Most colleges are getting rid of the ACT writing requirement altogether. Don’t worry about it
@TheWaffleMan149 Just curious, what did you get on the ACT? My first try was this September, with no prep, and I got a 28.
Does anyone not have their composite yet? :(((
@selectyour: I DONT! Its killing me
How do you find the percentiles for the new writing scores?
@selectyour I don’t either have mine either!! Still “registered”

far right column
it’s on the ACT website under “scores” in the “See national ranks” tab
Why do you keep saying that most colleges are getting rid of the Essay requirement? Where did you hear that?
Part of the reason the ACT changed the essay format was so that colleges would take it more seriously. It’s still uncertain what the colleges are planning to do with the new Essay. Until they decide, you should check with the colleges to make sure if they require it or even care about it.
I disagree with a lot of the posters on here. While the composite score of the ACT is by far the most important (80%), colleges will also pay attention to the four section scores (10%) and the writing scores (10%). [Those percentages are just rough estimates.] The real problem with getting a very high composite (30+) and then a “bad” writing score (<25) is not how colleges view your ACT essay, but how they will evaluate your supplements and CommonApp Essay. If you look at the Common Data Set for many of the highly selective schools, they say they use the ACT Essay for a check on authorship of other essays. Granted - the ACT just changed its essay, limited practice material was available, and we didn’t really know what they wanted. Nevertheless, and unfortunate to say, colleges will look at a high composite and low writing score with some level of suspicion. It’s human instinct.
20 times? try 50
@mmk2015 if you look on college websites (using Penn for example: http://www.upenn.edu/pennnews/news/penn-announces-new-testing-requirements-applicants) scroll down until you see the essay part.
it’s not required anymore, but it’s recommended for a lot of schools…
i had the quality assurance message since September 25? and i checked today (monday night) not expecting anything but I got both my composite and writing at the same time, which was strange.
C: 34
E: 33
M: 35
R: 35
S: 34
W: 36 (I honestly have no idea how this happened)
@TheWaffleMan149 I agree Penn is not using the ACT essay but that isn’t to say that most schools are eliminating it. where are you getting this info?
@golfcashoahu “colleges will look at a high composite and low writing score with some level of suspicion. It’s human instinct.” what? This sentence makes absolutely no sense at all. What kind of suspicion? If you got a 36 on Reading and 36 on English but got a 23 on writing what would make admissions suspicions? That you cheated to get the 36 on Reading and 36 on English? That if you wrote a solid application essay you had someone else write it for you? I seriously doubt it.
If a college recommends you do the Essay, that basically means you better do it. Generalizing that colleges are eliminating the Essay as a requirement is not accurate. It might be in the future, but right now, not accurate at all.
I agree you need to look at each college and what they are going to do when you apply. For example UGA currently requires the writing section. They say that for seniors this year they will look at the ACT Writing score for this test and the old E/W score from previous tests.IMO this year kids could get messed up with that. Since the new writing score seems harsh. However if you are not a senior and are applying in future years they will no longer require the writing section and supposedly will not consider it.
