Settling?

Your brother getting in-state rates because your F was stationed at the Pentagon will not help You get in-state rates. Your family has moved to another state. It looks as though VTech does participate in Yellow Ribbon.

Did you look at Vanderbilt? I know they do participate in both Yellow Ribbon for undergrad and Law school

If you live in NC there are lots of good deals that will save you money. Law is one of those degrees where you will likely be full pay…save for that. Pre-law is not a specific major.

I like Furman a lot. If you want to check out more places how about Wake Forest. My D thought it had a similar feel to Furman, but very expensive and private so NC in-state tuition won’t help. Duke is definitely prestigious. W&L is very small and very Greek but they do have a lot of full ride (Johnson scholars) that you might be in range for.

If money is issue, then pick a NC state supported school and shine there. Totally anecdotal, but we know young man who went to UofSC honors (top honors program you should look into that offers small classes) and ended up at UVA law and clerkship with supreme court. (aside, D turned down biggest Furman scholarship for full ride to UofSC honors)

Bottom line, it’s what you do at school that matters and save your money for law school.
