Sexy songs/explicit lyrics

The Doors version of “Gloria” as sung by the sexy Jim Morrison totally beats everything. ;)

404;

Walk This Way by Aerosmith. You ain’t see nuthin’ til you’re down on a …

The Lemon Song and Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin. Squeeze my lemon …

Feels Like the First Time by Foreigner.

I Touch Myself by the Divinyls.

I think we’re missing some obvious examples from the past. How about:

The Dominoes - 60-Minute Man
John Lee Hooker - Boom Boom Boom Boom
Led Zeppelin/Robert Johnson - The Lemon Song / Traveling Riverside Blues
Willie Dixon / Koko Taylor - Wang Dang Doodle
The Doors / Willie Dixon - Back-Door Man
The Doors - The End (and just being The Doors)
The Rolling Stones - Let’s Spend The Night Together, Stray Cat Blues, Midnight Rambler (and just being The Rolling Stones)
James Brown - Sex Machine
The Young Rascals - Groovin’
Lou Reed - Take A Walk On The Wild Side
Bonnie Raitt - Blender Blues

and of course, the champion (at least for my age cohort)

Marvin Gaye - Let’s Get It On (the whole album, including the title track, Come Get To This, You Sure Love To Ball, etc., plus lots of Gaye’s subsequent work like Got To Give It Up and Sexual Healing)

And there has to be a special category for songs that weren’t (explicitly) about sex but who was going to believe that?:

The Kingsmen (and everyone else) - Louie, Louie
The Trogs - Wild Thing
Prince - Little Red Corvette

I can picture Olivia Newton John with a headband and spandex pants but she wasn’t singing about exercising!

But not what I would call a sexy song.
For that I would go to Motown.

* Let’s Get it On*- Marvin Gaye- or Lou Rawls- Al Green, Teddy Pendergrass, et.al.

Or maybe Aerosmith * Big Ten Inch/i although Steven Tyler is not my idea of a sex symbol.

Some of my favorites are blues songs- I have a vinyl LP of Gabe’s Dirty Blues- a compilation by a local bar owner and music lover that included such classics as :
I want a bow-legged woman by Jackson,

  • Wasn’t that good* Wynonie Harris
or* 60-minute man* by Billy Ward and the Dominoes.
    The chorus from 1951.

The Houston Chronicle once had an article on this topic. The article listed - and I haven’t forgiven the inclusion yet, as I can’t forget it - Roy Roger’s song Cleaning My Rifle (and Dreamin’ of You).

Frank Zappa-Dirty Love
Bob Seger-Night Moves
Jackson Browne-Rosie

LOVE Take a Walk on the Wild Side!

Rod Sewart - If You Think I’m Sexy

And in the way-er back times of my parents’ (relative) youth, in addition to Cole Porter, plenty of others wrote naughty songs. Even Oscar Hammerstein produced the lyrics to “I’m Just A Girl Who Can’t Say No”. My residential college master’s wife, when a bit in her cups, used to sing a charming art song from her youth (circa '30s) that included the line, "Eddie took me to see the Coit Memorial Tower, He said it reminded him of his hidden power, " and ended, “And when I get into beddie, ready for Eddie, Eddie better be ready for me!”

Ooops! And how could I forget the entire first side of the Mothers of Invention Live at the Fillmore album, a mini rock opera about groupies that climaxed, so to speak, with a straight cover of “Happy Together” sung by Flo and Eddie, the two former Turtles then in Zappa’s band.

So many great and forgotten songs. I think itunes is going to be busy tonight.

ZZ Top - Legs

One of the oddest memories I have from my years of active parenting is of driving six twelve year-old girls somewhere and having them all sing a rollicking, letter perfect rendition of Ludacris’ first hit, “What’s Your Fantasy?”. (The chorus starts, “I wanna l-l-l-l-lick you from your head to your toes”, and that’s one of the least inappropriate lines in the song.)

But . . .

How about rugby songs? Did anyone else sing those when you were teens?

You guys must know what you are talking about, but I grew up listening to Motown, and now i listen to Hip-hop, and to me, there is NO comparison.

To name a few

“Be My Little Freak”

"…be my little freak
you let her put her hands in your pants
be my little freak
if you *in with me really *in with me
you let her put her hands in your pants
be my little freak

Hey girl I see you like that
you gettin excited you rockin like a pro with it girl
right away you got right on that picked the chick u wanted and now you in the corner kissin on a girl"

Hmmm…Got to go…got patients waiting.

“The Neighbors Know My Name”

“Daddy’s Home”

“Gangsta Love”

Love Shack by the B52s.

Ummm… almost anything by Barry White.

One of the oddest memories I have from my years of active parenting is of driving six twelve year-old girls somewhere and having them all sing a rollicking, letter perfect rendition of Ludacris’ first hit, "What’s Your Fantasy?

my younger daughters private grade school had a talent show- I don’t remember what she did- I think she was in a skit- but 4 of the older ( older was 3rd graders) performed a Spice Girl song- complete with choregraphy- add that to the 'burping the alphabet" performed by a 1st grader & you had an eclectic piece of entertainment.
But not on the level of Ludacris.

Brass Monkey by the Beastie Boys - "We got the bottle, you got the cup, c’mon everybody, let’s get … "

Add It Up by the Violent Femmes - “Why can’t I get just one kiss … Why can’t I get just one screw …”

Just Like Heaven by the Cure … “Show me how you do that trick, the one that makes me scream, she said.”

Crash by Dave Matthews Band … “Hike up your skirt a little more, and show the world to me.”

All of which I listen to several times a week on my workout playlist.

Teriwtt - I like Love Shack, but I never thought of it as suggestive. I must have missed something!

The Doors…Light My Fire
Pat Benatar…Hit Me With Your Best Shot and I Need a Lover
K.C. and the Sunshine Band…Get Down Tonight and Boogie Man
Devo…Whip It
Anita Ward…Ring My Bell

And the best (or worst) of all in 1978…Musique’s “In the Bush” with lyrics that started out "are you ready? are you ready for this? Do you like it? Do you like it like this? And then the chorus …push, push iin the bush. Hard to believe they played that on the radio back then.

If you’re not familiar with that great old classic, you can find a rendention on youtube.
I was a varsity cheerleader that year and remember it playing it over the PA system during time-outs of bball games and we cheerleaders would all run on the floor and dance. Unbelieveable now

With current grooming trends some younger folks might not know what Musique was even talking about.

Then there’s the whole reference to glitter on the mattress.

“We can’t dance, we don’t talk much, we just ball and play
But then we move like tigers on vaseline” David Bowie 1971.
I was a good Catholic girl, and only about 14 when I heard this, but holy moly.

LOL, Barrons. I was wondering when someone would mention push push in the bush. What about the Roxanne songs that went back and forth between two groups and included the lyrics, “Me, the Rox, give up the box so you can brag about it for the next six blocks?” I think there was a post on CC a few months back about Roxanne and how her record company had to pay for her education including a Ph.D at an ivy- maybe columbia or cornell?

Chicago 17 had been out about a year and I’d listed to it while carting little people. I took my youngest (who was VERY verbal) into the grocery after a long series of errands. The next thing I know he is singing very loudly "Stay the night, there’s room enough here for two, Stay the night I want to spend it with you… ". He was three. I was alarmed at the amount of lyrics he knew, and very glad he didn’t pick another song! He thought it was very nice the people in the song were going to have a sleepover! Again, I just remember thinking ‘This could have been sooo much worse!’
