Maybe you could have a plastic basket (from dollar store) to gather the small stuff(?). In my side-by-side, like having small door bins for small stuff. But I do use a basket for some of the meat/fish items.

For my “freezer on the bottom” the key was keeping cooked/baked on the top drawer, and raw on the bottom. And keeping a black sharpie on a magnet on the front of the fridge- no more sticking a container with a yellowish liquid inside. (is it chicken broth? is it lentil curry? is it leftover pineapple smoothie?)

What! Actually label everything?! No more “mystery” sauces? No wondering what year it was from? No more thawing something out and then saying “nope! that wasn’t what I thought it was!”? So much adventure in life to be lost.

Yes! A sharpie for the fridge and the pantry are a must, along with a roll of painters tape…love my bright green frog tape!

Since I was the queen of “I thought this was pesto- made from the basil lovingly grown-- and now discover it’s a moldy hunk of parmesan” I feel like I can comment. GET A HOBBY!

Maybe something got lost in translation…I was agreeing it’s important to label things. Sorry if I stepped on your toes.

Does anybody have a workstation sink? You know, a drainer and/or cutting board slotted in, grid on the bottom? We start consults for a kitchen update next month and I am in love with these, but DH has appropriate questions.

I have one. Love the size of the sink but the only thing I use on the top is the drying rack on any regular basis.

My only complaint is that the sink is so large that it doesn’t drain particularly well.

Lol, while I don’t have a pull out I DO have a motion sensor one!

I had to get up an examine my pullout garbage cabinet. It honestly looks great…and I don’t wipe the cabinet front except if I spill something.

It helps that I chose a dark wood on my island. The hardware I chose for the garbage pull out isn’t a knob but a handle. The perimeter cabinets are an antique white. I used dark matte metal knobs and handles throughout the kitchen…knobs on upper cabinets; handles on lower cabinets so clothes wouldn’t get caught on knobs when moving around in the kitchen.

I chose the island for the garbage receptacle because that’s where I do a lot of prep. I can leave it in the pulled out position for easy access to the sink (I turn 180) and it’s also close to the stove.

Our cabinets are a soft grey, we’ve been in the house for 5 years +, and the pull out trash cabinet also looks no different than any other cabinet in the kitchen. We have knobs on cabinets and pulls on drawers but our knobs have a back plate.

We have a pullout trash and recycling bins, and frankly I don’t see any issues with dirt and wear on the cabinet. I’m careful about wiping spills though.

I have a Ruvati workstation sink and I love it, but like @momofboiler1 I use the drying rack every day but the other pieces, not so much.

We remodeled our kitchen a year ago and now have a Kohler work station sink which I really like. I don’t use the cutting board but I do use drying rack and the bin to soak things.

We have. a garbage can (with step lid control) in a space at the end of our counters. LOL - some guests open a bunch of cabinets before finding it (usually because we point it out). I have a huge kitchen with many cabinets, but since there is space for the garbage can (and a recycle can plus a compost bin on the counter) I’ve not thought about a cabinet bin.

In my fridge, I love having rectangular glass covered dishes for leftovers. Stacking ability is nice.

Here is a link for the stretch round dish covers (I kept some, gave others as stocking stuffer gifts). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DKVZCBC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My last kitchen had a pull out garbage can plus recycling bin.

It was very difficult to keep clean. Maybe I’m just not that good at cleaning :joy:
