^^ Time to schedule a hiking trip to another national park?

In reality, although we’re glad we did it, no one in the family has any desire to do anything like that again!

My motivation is simple fact that few additional pounds cause my body to have: elevated blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol and back pain. I am not talking about major gain, I am talking about 2-3 pounds. First 2 measure on a regular (almost daily basis) so I know precisely correlation with my weight which I measure about 2 times / day. I cannot say that I am a healthy eater, I eat what I enjoy and I exercise for about 2 hours / day every day.

A knee surgery finally forced/motivated me to start the exercise routine this past year. Right after that my D’s engagement really made me kick in the healthy eating program as I didn’t want to be the heaviest person in the pictures! …shallow, I know. Anyway just feeling better has kept me on track and reading the Wellness thread here in the Cafe keeps me focused on reaching those small five pounds goals and moving more and eating less! Love the Livestrong site with MyPlate!

^^^LOVE egg white omelets!!! I eat one every morning and vary the veggies in it. I try to have a lean protein with every meal and it has helped me stave off hunger!

I remember your thread and it was probably motivation for some others.

Hiking the GC is sort of at the more strenuous end but what about targeting just hiking in other NPs or SPs? It doesn’t need to be quite to the extreme of hiking the GC but would still give a goal to stay in shape and would enable you to better see other parks.

I’ve known others who were motivated by being able to participate in marathons - not to win but to participate. This doesn’t motivate me because I have no interest there. For me the health aspects are plenty motivation enough and the ability to do 5 - 10 mile jaunts whenever I want to is also motivation.

I’m pretty sure that I’d be more fit if I lived somewhere with even a shred of natural beauty.

This summer I decided I need to get on my bike more. I promised myself that I could have gelato or a chocolate bar… if I biked to go get it. Later I added in the evening TV popcorn only on cycling days. We live at the top of a hill, and this has been serious motivation to get on my bike!

When you eat egg white omelets, what you do with yokes? I hope you do not throw away the best part of the egg. Egg whites lack nutrition. The reason the egg is one of the best food is because yoke has most known vitamins that we need. I am really bad at eating eggs, I forget to do so. I love them fried with tons of olive oil, milk, Italian seasonning and feta cheese. I have it with huge peace of bread fried again in dripping olive oil and Italian seasonning. House smells like heaven when I fix it. But I do it maybe several times / year, I just do not remember about eggs.

I buy liquid egg whites in a carton so there are no yolks. :)
