This discussion reminds me of the Swiss-Cheese Syllogism:

  1. More Holes = Less Cheese
  2. More Cheese = More Holes; therefore
  3. More Cheese = Less Cheese

Personally I think it is wrong to think of this stuff as a zero-sum game, as temping as it is.
