Just a follow up. I had the vaccine. And I had a “reaction” to the vaccine. Yay me! Now waiting to pick up prescriptions for antibiotic cream and steroid cream each of which must be applied 3 times daily on the cellulitus (that’s what the prescription said :() and go back if it doesn’t improve or gets worse. Not an allergic reaction, but an injection site reaction, whatever that means (well I know what it means - about 7 x 3 1/2 inches of swollen red itchiness). Its 10 days since the vaccine and at first I thought it was normal till it kept getting worse and worse and today my husband and a couple of people at work insisted I go to the doctor.
And there I was fretting about whether my insurance covered the shot. With my high Deductible, non of the treatment for the after effects are covered.
Oh well, all I can say is - after all this, I had better never get shingles!! LOL
Ooooo, no fair. Condolences.
I’m going for my shot next week. I hope what happened to you doesn’t happen to me. Keeping my fingers crossed. Sorry for what you’re going through.
So sorry, swimcatsmom. Hope it resolves quickly from here.Wonder what causes that type of reaction.
I had mine two weeks ago. Very small needle, didn’t really feel it and no problems. Just to reassure those about to do it. So flukey as to what can be an issue with these things,
@travelnut - that was my comment to the doctor - it was the least painful shot I’d ever had!
@shellfell - I would just keep an eye on the site - maybe ask when you get the shot what a “normal” rash reaction would be. I think my problem was I read the blurb about possible side effects and a rash is a possible normal side effect so I kept thinking it was normal until it started looking rather ridiculous (and my husband started freaking out about it.)
One nice thing. When I went to pick up the prescriptions it wasn’t ready and, while I was standing there, the pharmacist got on the phone with the urgent care doctor (my doctor’s office was closed by the time his nurse had time to get back to me and she advised I go to urgent care rather than wait till Monday) to ask if she could change one of the meds from a cream version to lotion (or vice versa) which he ok’d. It changed the price for me from $136 to $5.55. I was impressed that she did that without me even knowing the cost.
