Thanks for sharing! Your story has given me hope. I am in a very similar situation that your daughter was in. I have a solid academic record (2200 SAT, 4.0 GPA, numerous community college courses, blah blah blah) but have dedicated much of my high school time to the dance studio. I was initially ashamed of pursuing what I felt to be a waste of time, especially since my ultimate life goal is to be a physician (my friends make jokes about me performing surgery en pointe). However, now I know that I would not trade the lessons I have learned from dance for a million perfect SAT scores. Ballet dancers are no wimps, and I hope that the rest of the general population realizes how much strength and dedication it takes to pursue ballet. Best of luck to your daughter!
