shopping for laptop

I have a macbook. its worth the money. Just save % and blow it on mac…they’re virus free, super light and sexy, and have great graphics programs.

And they are expensive.

Wut is the avg price for one?

macs are terrible enless they’re using windows.

Macs are amazing if they’re not using windows.

macs…shudder.
I have a Vaio BX. Vaio’s are awesome, but expensive. I think at normal cost is it a $1300 one, but my dads best friend owns a computer store…so I got it for cost… Vaio’s are durable, and as long as you don’t kick it off a cliff or something, they will last throughout college.
Basically, it has a biometric fingerprint reader. Enough said.

macs are terrible.

the operating system is trash; interface isn’t as practical, etc.

there’s a reason why macs aren’t as widely used as pc’s.

I heard Sony’s customer service sucks though, and if something breaks then you’re left dealing with it on your own.

And the fingerprint reader thing isn’t so blow-your-mind-awesome, either. :p

That’s why I got an HP :x

I have used both the latest-generation Macs and PCs.

Macs are much more user-friendly. Their user interface is arguably superior and definitely simpler. They don’t come with bloatware. Apple is generally a good company to deal with. Macs have fewer security problems.

PCs can be cheaper, more customizable, and better at gaming.

i hate how there’s only one button on mac mice.

i hate the whole window thing where clicking on an icon (like firefox/ie) will not open a new window.

i hate macs period.

and i’m not a hardcore gamer, but i do play games on my computer like cs, sc, hitman, gta and macs just don’t work.

I hate the one-button mice too. I forgot to list it above. You can buy two-button mice for Macs, but they just don’t have the same functionality.

Sony’s customer service does majorly suck. When my vaio died, i had to pay $$ for the busy buy geek squad to look at it. But the laptop design is really sleek…and i’m shallow…so i love it.

We’ve had good luck with Sony Customer Service. My dad and I both have them. My dad cracked his screen and they replaced it within a week. There is a cheap, three year 100% warrenty. Basically, I could drop my computer into a lake and only retreive the M key, and they would replace it (I’n not exactly planning on taking my computer to a lake, but ya know).

Optional warranties are typically for suckers. They can cost up to a third of the price of the computer. Also, technology is often subject to infant mortality syndrome. If it works fine for the first month, chances are it will work for years.

Insurance only mitigates risk for big items, like cars and houses. Insuring small items is pointless and expensive.

That all being said, my computer has a warranty.

i have to disagree . . . if you get a high powered laptop costing 1500 dollars then i say you should really invest in like a 4 year plan they are only like 200 bucks and cover batteries too

laptops arent as reliable as desktops and much harder to fix especially motherboard / processor / graphics card almost impossible
