<p>I agree entirely that such efforts would be and should be unwelcome, but that’s not the approach I think they would take. I think they would just slap a tariff onto Mexican industrial products, and use the aforementioned factors as justification (“we want to provide an incentive not to buy cheap goods from Mexico and take advantage of their lax standards…” or something like that).</p>

<p>That’s my thought, largely - that HRC and BO are just using labor and environmental standards as a more politically acceptable reason to impose tariffs - that is, if they’re actually going to chnge NAFTA at all, which still seems up in the air.</p>
