You need to find out if the statistics you are looking at are of people accepted directly out of Early Action, or if they are people that applied Early Action and were accepted then, or deferred and then accepted. I remember reading somewhere that 25% of people deferred EA at Notre Dame end up getting in.

I talked to an admissions person when I visited Notre Dame last fall, and he said that I should ‘definitely apply EA because if I didn’t get in, I’d probably get deferred.’ I ended up getting rejected EA. I had a 2200 on my SAT (700 reading, 800 math, 700 writing), field hockey captain, club officer, lots of community service, etc. In other words, just hope that whoever reads your application likes it, because they apparently didn’t like mine…

Oh, I also then applied to BC regular decision, and got in. I chose to go to Wake Forest though, and I love it here- definitely come check it out if you haven’t already. The current president of Wake Forest was at Notre Dame for his entire career before he came to Wake.
