No harm in shooting a short email. If nothing else, it may highlight your interest.

Harvard does not consider interest.

They don’t but it’s never considered a negative.

It’s never a negative - true. But Harvard, for all its great things, has a number of faults. One of which is hubris. The attitude is “of course all applicants have an interest.” And it’s corollary : “of course Harvard is your #1 choice.”
