Should I continue to follow the IGETC plan with no prereqs done?

You can do gen ed (breadth) courses as well that are less than IGETC. You just have to make sure the courses you took for IGETC fulfill the gen ed course plan. Then you have to see exactly what the breadth req are for each UC’s Biology department. They may vary slightly.

Go here:

http://web2.assist.org/web-assist/tcaAgreement.do?inst2=none&inst1=none&type=ucElig&ia=VVCC&ay=16-17

If it doesn’t go directly to the page, simply put in Victor Valley, then near bottom click on UC Eligibility courses. Those are the courses that fulfill breadth. All you have to do then is match with the breadth categories needed in each UCs bio dept. it’s always English and math and then usually just about 4 classes chosen in a few categories.

Doing breadth is just as good as IGETC when you have a lot of major courses - in fact, it’s even better.

Barstow CC has Eng 1A, 1B and 1C as fulfilling English breadth. Your math will easily be fulfilled with any number of math courses for your major.

It might be easiest to email each bio dept and ask what the breadth req are for Transfers. Get it straight from the horse’s mouth.
