The Pell grant can’t just sit there, but there is no Pell grant if you don’t file the FAFSA.
You’ve filed for 2021 and 22. Your Pell grant was awarded for this fall and next spring. If you do nothing, you are done. All is good. You’ll go to school and get your award. Some schools use the current year FAFAS for the summer awards, some use the next year. If you aren’t going for summer '22, nothing to worry about, but if your school uses 2022-23 for the summer of '22, and you need to go to school next summer, you won’t get a Pell award.
You don’t need to complete the next FAFSA if you are sure you aren’t going to school summer or fall '22. It is the FAFSA that just sits there, not the Pell grant (or other FA award).n The FAFSA doesn’t get forwarded to schools until you put in the code for the info to be sent to the school.
