Should I still visit Stanford if I'm waitlisted?

Whoa, whoa. Calm down now.
Well, I would just like to thank you all for your comments. They have really shed a new light on the subject. And now, after taking everything into consideration, I do NOT think I will visit Stanford (even though the oppportunity will be easily accessible as I will be in the Bay Area at that time). I see where most of your positions are coming from and I understand that if I were to be rejected, it would be even more devastating. Besides, visiting as a waitlisted applicant would be somewhat useless because I think I’ve gotten a good enough feel of the school just from the website and this forum itself. I guess I’ll do my best on ignoring Stanford for the next few months and focusing on the school I plan on matriculating to (which is currently between UCLA, UCBerkeley, and possibly Columbia, which I find out Apr1); however, ignoring Stanford will be pretty difficult… just because it’s that awesome… and because I have the Stanford website saved onto my favorites, haha.
Thank you for the “good lucks.” I really really hope Stanford pulls through in the end. I have this weird gut feeling that God is going to make this happen for me, he’s just postponing it to put me on edge. And, as Lobzz says, “if you do get pulled off the waitlist, you’ll get this orgasmic feeling of happiness.” I look forward to that, hopefully. :D

Tell us how it goes :)

Pea is correct. There is no upside and lots of downside to such a visit. Getting off the wait list is the longest of long shots. Staying on the wait list is fine, but until such time as you get accepted off of it, focus on the bird in the hand.

Focus on the school(s) showing you the love and not the one still playing hard-to-get.
