Should I take Honors Spanish 4 or AP Environmental Science?

@MYOS1634 sorry what’s NPC? And I don’t want an AP Physics class to drop my GPA since I’m not very strong in the subject.

In that case cross out any major that includes physics - check where your chosen major is located (arts& science or engineering or other) + check requirements for the major.
Either you’ll need to take physics in college and should have as solid a background in it as possible, or you ont plan on a major
Either bite the bullet now or research college majors now.
You can’t just “wait to take physics in college” where the level and the pace are much harder than AP physics.
(If AP physics drops your HS GPA what do you think will happen in college?)

Type in your browser NPC + Bates, NPC + StOlaf, NPC + Muhlenberg (this are all very selective colleges that ‘meet need’) as well as NPC +< state flagship >. Bring results to your parents and discuss college costs.

Honestly, even though the psychology is also interesting and relevant to your major, it does look as if you’re taking a lot of electives instead of cores. Also, stats is great but would not be expected of a student also taking Calc BC. I would think ONE of these three …psych, stats or the science electives (assuming the anatomy and brain classes are semester classes that go together) could be dropped in favor of chemistry, Even if you dropped two classes and had a study hall with the more-rigorous chemistry you might have a stronger schedule than what you have described now (as some schools’ AP chem courses take up two class periods with labs).

@MYOS1634 Do you think AP Physics 1 is a good class? Or would AP Physics C make more sense?

AP physics 1 is an intro to college physics class. It’s hard (harder than a basic physics class) and you need a good handle on math but it’s doable and it’s considered an easy science class, just one step above APES and easier than AP Bio or AP chem.
On the other hand AP physics C is hardcore physics for future engineers and physics majors.

If you take your proposed schedule, drop AP stats, take AP physics1 and Spanish 4, keep the rest + your electives. Do you think you could handle it? If not, drop a non core class and take a study hall.

@MYOS1634 I see. I’m a prospective pre-med, so I think I’ll take AP Physics 1 then.

@amena555, my own daughter is currently taking AP physics 1 as a junior (currently taking precalc) and is making A’s even though math/science is much harder for her than humanities/social science and she didn’t have a regular physics class prior to it. It’s algebra-based. She definitely has to work hard on it, though. A lot depends on whether you feel willing to go to the teacher for extra explanation if you need that (a good habit to get into for college).

Spanish 4 instead of 3 in high school may allow you to place into a higher level of Spanish in college. That may allow completing the college’s foreign language graduation requirement in fewer courses.

@MYOS1634 I ended up dropping Brain & Behavior for AP Physics 1 :slight_smile: I decided to keep AP Stats since I’ve wanted to take that class since my freshman year.

It’s a hard choice but the right one if you want to study science in college. Kudos. :slight_smile:
