Should I update Harvard about National Merit?

I didn’t include it in my app because I didn’t think it was a significant award since I have a 1500+ for reported SAT. My school has 10 people who got nmsf and the majority of the kids who are applying to Harvard from my school are not nmsf so in the school context would updating Harvard about nmsf help me? But national merit is kinda old news so im not sure if it would be suitable as an update😭

With decisions coming out in about a week, I don’t think this will move you from one pile to another at this late date. Personally, I’d hold off an include in any update if you’re deferred.

I’d include it. It’s a huge award.

Between 16K and 17K students are NMSF each year, so not such ’ a huge award’, and roughly 95% become NMFs.

Mmm. Not really. Certainly not for Harvard applicants

Less than 1% of test takers become finalists, so that is still a huge accomplishment. That would be like saying don’t share a 1550 or 1600 SAT score because XX number do it every year. It’s another data point showing how strong they are, even if that is a good sized amount of people across the entire country.

Not really? Less than 1% of all students receive it. That is pretty big. No, it’s not only 2-3 in teh country, but it still shows a big accomplishment. Any extra thing for Harvard may be the tipping point, so why WOULDN"T you report it?

Should have put it in original application, but not worthy of an email update less than a week before decisions announced. Something to put on the LOCI if deferred.
