<p>I read most of those Greek and Latin myths either for pleasure or in school - but my kids weren’t exposed to nearly as many of them. (OTOH they know way more about African and Native American myths and legends than I do.)</p>
<p>OP here - I had my senior ask around school about the various language teachers. In the end he said that the kids either liked it or hated it. They felt Latin was a lot of memorization and if you were good at that you would do well in the class, however some kids don’t like to memorize long lists so they didn’t like the class.</p>
<p>My 8th grader decided he wanted to take Latin. He put his backups as Spanish, then French and finally German as last choice. </p>

<p>mathmom: True that. Thank goodness the two semester Art History intro class familiarized him with them. Sheer luck his college has a major reputation in that field or he wouldn’t have taken them. They were the only Art History he took in college.</p>
