Should she even take the SAT?

Use the weighted capped version of GPA for comparison to GPAs on UC web sites, unless otherwise stated.

Hmmm. If she wants a four year college experience…which is much more than class…going to UCR, a great school would be a slam dunk over two years at a jc and then UCSB.

Again lots of great schools outside too where you’d go for less $$ than UCs….u of Az is one of many schools. There’s also many private schools where your daughter would do well.

Sounds like UCSB is the target and there’s a good chance. But there’s outstanding reaches with big merit (W&L), matches and safeties (SMU also has a free ride) with huge aid and great rep!! UCR is very solid as well.

You daughter deserves four years!! It needn’t be UCSB or bust.

I know that if your school does not have many AP’s, then that is definitely considered and gpa is considered differently.

Every student will be reviewed in the context of what is offered at their HS so a few AP’s, no AP’s etc… are taken into consideration. If students from the HS are getting in Ivy League schools, then the HS curriculum will be considered rigorous regardless of the # of AP/IB courses taken/offered.
