Should we file FAFSA and CSS if no aid is expected

Wyoming requires it to receive any aid, including merit. My other daughter’s school may not require it, but the FA office will wait for it. When I asked why her merit awards and bright futures (which clearly states FAFSA is not required) weren’t posted, I was told they were waiting for the fafsa to apply all awards at once. If I wasn’t going to file it, I’d be sure to call and let them know.

@hebegebe Fordham was the school that required that we fill out the FAFSA for her merit scholarship.

And why would you fill out the FAFSA and not the CSS profile? FAFSA qualifies you for Pell, federal student loans, maybe state grants, federal work study. CSS would be needed at schools that require it for institutional aid consideration.

We did not qualify for Pell, but state aid, and if my D would have attended UPenn, according to the net price calculator, we would have paid less that the FAFSA EFC.
