showerheads!

I first used a handheld in Europe. The first thing we did in both bathrooms when we bought this house was replace the shower heads with handhelds. They can always be left in the perch, but the mobility is very useful.

When we did our big reno a few years ago, we put handheld units on a sliding/adjustable bar in addition to a showerhead in all the bathrooms. Each unit has a separate control handle so you can use either or both. We also have temperature controls in each shower to set the temp. where we like it. We wanted both a secure head and a handheld in each because we’d heard that if you only have a handheld on a sliding bar, if you have great water pressure, it becomes too strong if you try to take the handheld down to rinse off. In other words, the pressure can make it difficult to handle without water spraying everywhere. If you don’t have good water pressure, this may not present a problem. Shortly after our contractor told us this, we happened to be staying with friends for a weekend, and sure enough, the ensuite to the room where we were staying had only a handheld on a sliding bar and we saw the issues with the water pressure.

We are going with a fixed shower head and also a hand held on a slide bar.

We also are investigating the showers where you can set the temperature? Any one with experience/info on those?

I believe this may be true. Most flow limiters can be removed without a great deal of difficulty if you are handy. It makes a difference in how they feel. Youtube has multiple videos on how to do this, but its pretty difficult to have a “failure” if you attempt it.
