They can say what they want to say. There’s no “should.” It’s their personal business. I’ve never heard anyone outright ask someone if they got a scholarship, but they’re free to respond however they want.

^ ^ ^

Good luck in school!

Sseamom, I am assuming this is directed to me, since I began this thread.
Could you help me out by highlighting exactly what words you find offensive?
I have a hard time reading tone in my own words.

i think what is most frustrating is that I dont say anything unless I am absolutely positive of the facts.
If I don’t know, then I say " I don’t know". But I have spent almost 40 years reading and studying educational theories, tutoring, teaching, working as a college advisor, both paid and as a volunteer in public high schools and if I am not better informed than someone who hasnt been doing that, it is pretty sad.
Most people have at least a couple areas of expertise, I dont consider myself less than if I dont know what Campari or Aperol are ( I just learned yesterday), why would I think someone is uneducated if they don’t know that Washington University is in Mo, not Wa?
So it is mystifying when I see others so adamantly incorrect. They also come across as when following their information could actually be dangerous or at least cause problems.
Like, why will people give directions, when they don’t know what they are talking about?

I had to go back and reread this thread to even see what was said by anyone. I don’t know why people insist on something they don’t know as being true. I also think some people truly believe the information they’re giving.

What you highlighted above form one of my posts was NOT directed at you, but at the time I found the thread to be overall a kind of a brag list by people who know a bit more about various colleges and where they are and what they offer who were implying that others who might make incorrect assumptions by them are lacking in some way.I’m assuming those who are adamant about something that is incorrect do actually believe what they’re saying. Honestly, I don’t overthink such things, and I just gently give the correct answer, if I know it.

What you have in italics was not a comment of mine. I have no idea where or what Aperol is.

I must be going completely psychotic because I don’t remember posting the above and was actually driving around all afternoon.
Or so i thought!

^^
@emeraldkity4 Do you take Ambien? My H does and he sometimes has no memory of eating something, getting up in the middle of the night, or going to certain places. I think he needs to stop taking it. He started taking it because he’d fall asleep, but not stay asleep.

EK, it could be that CC saved an old draft, and you accidentally posted it.

One day many years ago when my dad was in his early 60s, working and completely healthy, he started talking about my brother’s college graduation. I listened for a while but eventually had to stop him to say, Daddy, brother never graduated from college. My dad insisted that he went to the graduation, described the valedectorian, etc. This was before the era of cell phones and we were out and about so I couldn’t just call my brother and have him tell Dad that no, he didn’t graduate from college.

But it certainly gave my siblings and me something to talk about for many years! It came to mind when I read the post above about the nurse’s mom who believed her child had a master’s degree. My dad died last April at age 91.

I bet BB is right. I’ve come very close to posting the draft of an old reply I’d long since forgotten about. I was wondering why EK was asking me after all those months! The other night I was so tired the last thing I remember is trying to decide if I needed my quilt or not. I woke up the next morning under it-I have no memory of putting it on. I don’t take anything to help me sleep so I’m not sure what THAT was all about!

I could ask the person whose been using my iPad today…

I got asked to recruit a guy at work because I was the only one at work who knew about high schools to college. Actually irritated me that was the only thing I was an ‘expert on’.
