Significant award?

So I have heard that it is beneficial for EA students to send letters to Yale if the applicant has received a significant award prior to decisions coming out.

I won the United States Youth Senate Program yesterday which entails a free trip to washington for a week where I receive a $5,000 scholarship. There are only 2 people selected from every single state and every school is given 2 slots to send a junior or a senior to compete in the state competition.

Is this an award significant enough that I should send it in? Or would it just be unnecessary and annoying? If it is significant enough to send in, would I just send a letter to the admission’s office with my application number?

Congrats. It is definitely significant.
I would recommend sending a letter addressed to your area’s representative by faxing the document to the File Room. You can find out more about that via this link:

Good luck.
