Silly Question...really!

Hugcheck…ditto!!

Thumper…serrated steak knives. Mini Ginsu knives, very inexpensive but capable of tolerating incredible abuse and still look and cut great. Our nicer ( but still not top rate) cutting knives are hand washed.

Ditto Bunsen Burner: get a Miele. They have a silverware shelf that lets it all be safely sideways.

Frigidaire recommends that the silverware be loaded “handles up” for sharp items.

And here’s a video for you: [How To Load A Dishwasher Like A Brilliant Genius (VIDEO)](<a href=“HuffPost - Breaking News, U.S. and World News | HuffPost”>How To Load A Dishwasher Like A Brilliant Genius (VIDEO) | HuffPost Life)

Thanks for that video, dmd77…under the adage of ‘no question is a silly question’ I always rinse my dishes. Is the rule about just scraping and not rinsing for the times when you’ll run your dishwasher right away? If not, things harden and my dishwasher would never get them off.

Most helpful thing about the video was the idea of alternating small and large plates – I’ve never done that but will give it a try.

BTW, turns out we put our silverware in as recommended :)

We wash all of ours tines up, including our wusthof fancy knives. I don’t agree with it, but fiance doesn’t let me load the dishwasher. If I try to do it he just comes up behind me and reloads it after I’ve walked away!
