In honor of driver, I’m going to serve 100 mph.

Ah, mournful bar songs. The flickering sepia light indeed. Tom Waits on the jukebox as follows:

Ol’ 55
Well my time went so quickly, I went lickety-splitly out to my old '55
As I drove away slowly, feeling so holy, God knows, I was feeling alive.

Now the sun’s coming up, I’m riding with Lady Luck, freeway cars and trucks,
Stars beginning to fade, and I lead the parade
Just a-wishing I’d stayed a little longer,
Oh, Lord, let me tell you that the feeling’s getting stronger.

And it’s six in the morning, gave me no warning; I had to be on my way.
Well there’s trucks all a-passing me, and the lights are all flashing,
I’m on my way home from your place.

And now the sun’s coming up, I’m riding with Lady Luck, freeway cars and trucks,
Stars beginning to fade, and I lead the parade
Just a-wishing I’d stayed a little longer,
Oh, Lord, let me tell you that the feeling’s getting stronger.

And my time went so quickly, I went lickety-splickly out to my old '55
As I pulled away slowly, feeling so holy, God knows, I was feeling alive.

Now the sun’s coming up, I’m riding with Lady Luck,
Freeway cars and trucks, freeway cars and trucks, freeway cars and trucks…

And the rest of us making our puja to the diety that is driver. All hail. Hope she is enjoying this:). Get it? Driver? Freeway cars and trucks? Huh? Huh?

Alum,

Glad you credited that to Waits and not The Eagles second rate cover. Here’s my tribute:

My daddy was the family bassman
My mamma was an engineer
And I was born one dark gray morn
With music coming in my ears
In my ears.

They call me baby driver
And once upon a pair of wheels
Hit the road and Im gone ah
Whats my number
I wonder how your engine feels
Ba ba ba ba
Scoot down the road
Whats my number
I wonder how your engine feels.

My daddy was a prominent frogman
My mammas in the naval reserve
When I was young I carried a gun
But I never got the chance to serve
I did not serve.

They call me baby driver
And once upon a pair of wheels
Hit the road and Im gone ah
Whats my number
I wonder how your engine feels
Ba ba ba ba
Scoot down the road
Whats my number
I wonder how your engine feels.

Oh Lord, won’tcha buy me a Mercedes Benz? ;)

In honor of Driver, a fellow military family supporter:

Day is done,
gone the sun,
from the lakes
from the hills
from the sky,
all is well,
safely, rest,
God is nigh.
Fading light,
Dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky
Gleaming bright,
From afar,
Drawing, near,
Falls the night.
Thanks and praise,
For our days,
Neath the sun
Neath the stars
Neath the sky,
As we go,
This, we, know,
God is nigh.

And then, because she’s such a great oxymoron of a person, how about:

Girls just want to have fun. That’s all they really wahahahahant. Some fuhuhuhuhn.

Stay by Jackson Browne

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJ9hnde9S7M

In honor of one of my favorite YouTubers. Here’s to you, Driver (Raising my Diet Dr. Pepper)!

“…and she’ll have fun, fun, fun 'til her daddy takes the T-bird away.”

And I thought of another one. This will really blow my cover of a granola eating responsible citizen. Destiny’s Child -I Need a Soldier…

T.I.]
Hey (I want a soldier)
Well you got it, I’m the hottest around
They’ll know it when they see you rollin’ Impalas around
(I got a soldier)
With the top down, feelin’ the sounds
Quakin’ and vibratin’ them thighs
Ridin’ harder than guys
With the chrome wheels at the bottom, white leather inside
When them flames be spittin’ at you, tell 'em don’t even try it
To shoot it with 'Chelle, and kick it with Kelly, or holla at B
You gotta be G’s, you way outta ya league

[Kelly]
We like them boys that be in them Lacs leanin’ (leanin’)
Open they mouth, they grill gleamin’ (gleamin’)
Candy paint, keep that whip clean and (clean and)
They always be talkin’ that country slang we like
They keep that beat that be in the back beatin’ (beatin’)
Eyes see so low from that chiefin’ (chiefin’)
I love how he keep my body screamin’ (screamin’)
A rude boy that’s good to me, with street credibility

[chorus]
If his status ain’t hood, I ain’t checkin’ for him
Better be street if ya lookin’ at me
I need a soldier
That ain’t scared to stand up for me
Known to carry big things, if you know what I mean

If his status ain’t hood, I ain’t checkin’ for him
Better be street if ya lookin’ at me
I need a soldier
That ain’t scared to stand up for me
Gotta know to get dough and he better be street

[Beyonce]
We like them boys up top from the BK (BK)
Know how to flip that money three ways (three ways)
Always ridin’ big on the freeway (freeway)
With that East Coast slang that us country girls, we like
Low-cut caesars with the deep waves (deep waves)
So quick to snatch up yo’ Beyonce (yo’ Beyonce)
Always comin’ down, bobbin’ our way (our way)
Tellin’ us that country girls the kind of girls they like

I know some soldiers in here (where they at, where they at)
They wanna take care of me (where they at)
I know some soldiers in here (where they at, where they at)
Don’t mind takin’ one for me (where they at)
I know some soldiers in here (where they at, where they at)
They wanna spend that on me (where they at)
I know some soldiers in here (where they at, where they at)
Wouldn’t mind puttin’ that on me (where they at)

And so on…

I’ve been drivin’ all night my hand’s wet on the wheel
There’s a voice in my head that drives my heel
Its my baby callin’ says ‘I need ya here’
It’s half past four and I’m shifting gears
When she gets lonely and the longing gets too much
She sends a cable comin’ in from above
We don’t need to talk at all

We got a thing that’s called radar love
We got a wave in the air
Radar Love

Radio’s playin’ that forgotten song
Brenda Lee’s coming on strong
The road has got me hypnotized
And I’m spinning into a new sunrise
When I get lonely and I’m sure I’ve had enough
She sends her comfort coming in from above
We don’t need a letter at all

We got a thing that’s called radar love
We got a line in the sky
Radar Love

No more speed I’m almost there
Gotta keep cool now, gotta take care
Last car to pass here I go
And the line of cars goes down real slow
And the radio played some forgotten song
Brenda Lee’s coming on strong
And the newsman sang his same song
Oh one more radar lover gone

When I get lonely and I’m sure I’ve had enough
She sends her comfort coming in from above
We don’t need a letter at all

We got a thing that’s called radar love
We got a line in the sky
We got a thing that’s called radar love
We got a thing that’s called
radar love

I raise my glass, driver. Keep driving fast. It seriously ticks the citizens off. ;)

I remember when we were drivin’, drivin’ in your car
speed so fast felt like I was drunk,
city lights spread out before us
and your arm felt nice wrapped round my shoulder
and I— had a feeling that I belonged
I— had a feeling I could be someone
be someone

By the way Alu if you had a look at my Ipod, you might a few wrong assumptions about my gender and race!

Are you all done pulling the tails off of cats up here? 'cause I’m done with the first 50,000 words of my [url=www.nanowrimo.org]NaNoWriMo[/url] novel (two whole days early this year!!) and thought I’d crawl up from under the table here to grab another cup of Irish Coffee to celebrate, but whatever that noise was… Yow! Oh… it was singing? Um… 'scuse me while I dive back down and pick some of the gum off the underside of the booth and throw a few thousand more words into this story, I’ll check back with y’all after you sleep it off. 'k? :)

well damn- I am shocked-
so heres another Ballad to you Driver-
No more upset mornings
No more trying evenings
It’s the American Dream I am disbelieving.
When the gas in my tank feels like money in the bank
I’m gonna blow it all this time, take me one last ride.
The lights of the city, they only look good when I’m speeding
I wanna leave em all behind me because this time I’m gone
Gone, going for it all this time, gone.
In the far off distance
As my taillights fade
No one to witness but they will someday
Feel like a question is forming
And the answers far
I will be what I could be
Once I get out of this town.
The lights of this city
They’ve lost all of their feeling
I wanna leave em all behind me because this time I’m gone
Gone, going for it all, this time I’m gone
Nothing is everything
I’ll have it all
If nothing is everything then I will have it all.
I’m gone

I believe in reincarnation:)

yes, I hope Driver returns in a new body
(and let’s me play with the old)
but until she does
I will not post or visit much
her late now toothless haunts

hey, anyone remember the mods and rockers? The Mods and the Rockers were two conflicting British youth subcultures of the early 1960s.

Guess who’s back
Back again
driver’s back
Tell a friend
Guess who’s back, guess who’s back, guess who’s back…

I’ve created a monster, cause nobody wants to see driver no more
They want milquetoast, I’m chopped liver (huh?)
Well if you want driver, this is what I’ll give ya
A little bit of ■■■■■■ mixed with some wit-quicker
Some satire that’ll jump start my heart quicker
than a shock when I get shocked at the forum
by the Super when I’m not co-operating
When I’m rockin the table while he’s operating (hey!!)
You waited this long, now stop debating
Cause I’m back, I’m on the rag and ovu-lating
So the CC super won’t let me be
or let me be me, so let me see
They try to shut me down on café cc
But it feels so empty, without me
So, come on and dip, just give me some lip
watch that, dumb on your lips, and a quiver in your hips
And get ready, cause this finger’s about to get heavy
I just settled all my lawsuits, screw you already!

Now this looks like a job for me
So everybody, just follow me
Cause we need a little, controversy
Cause it feels so empty, without me
I said this looks like a job for me
So everybody, just follow me
Cause we need a little, controversy
Cause it feels so empty, without me

Little Hellions, kids feelin rebellious
Embarrassed their parents still listen to driver’s spellin’
They start feelin like prisoners helpless
'til someone comes along on a mission and yells ■■■■■■!!!
A visionary, vision of scary
Could start a revolution, pollutin the airwaves
A rebel, so just let me revel and bask
in the fact that I got everyone kissin my ______ (:clunes)
And it’s a disaster, such a catastrophe
for you to see so damn much of my clunes; you asked for me?
Well I’m back, na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
{bzzt Fix your bent antenna tune it in and then I’m gonna
enter in, endin up under your skin like a splinter
The center of attention, back for the winter
I’m interesting, the best thing since wrestling
Infesting in your college kid’s ears and nesting
{bzzt Testing, attention please
Feel the tension, soon as someone mentions me
Here’s my ten cents, my two cents is free
A nuisance, who sent? You sent for me?
But no matter how many fish in the sea
It’ll be so empty, without me

Now this looks like a job for me
So everybody, just follow me
Cause we need a little, controversy
Cause it feels so empty, without me
I said this looks like a job for me
So everybody, just follow me
Cause we need a little, controversy
Cause it feels so empty, without me

LOL, FountainSiren, how perfect, I love it! I never come to the cafe, 'cause of not really caring much for alcohol and all, plus the music is often very loud, and it’s always a packed house seems like, but, I had to come here just to read post #4758. It was worth the delayed flight, the long subway ride, and the rainy weather just to get here…

Bravo, FS. I’m no fan of driver — to say the Thanksgiving thread went nuclear is putting it mildly — but that was a truly impressive riff on one of Slim Shady’s best.

So now we know The Real Slim Shady. :)
